UFO Challenge

Well…This post is like visit to the Priest for confession…
Judy over at Patchwork Times is doing a 2011 UFO Challenge.  Participants number their unfinished projects 1-12 then each month Judy will pick a number and that’s the project you have to finish.  I am taking the challenge.  I have several projects that need attention and shelves that need room.

Here’s my list.

Project #1
This is a Dresden Plate quilt that my daughter Kayla designed.  I started sewing it then when I got to the part of sewing down the plates, my steam petered out.

Project #2
This is my Blue Ridge Beauty leader and ender quilt.  All the blocks are finished.

BlueRidgeBeauty

Project #3
This is Judy, from Patch Times, free Connect the Dots mystery quilt.  I love it and really want to get at this so I reserve the right to just take this project out of the list and finish it sooner.  I will substitute a different project if needed….My Odds and Ends quilt…both are shown…both are high on my list of wanting to finish.  If I’d get both done before three is drawn….then I’d work on a quilt kit that’s here.

ConnecttheDots

OddsandEndsQuilt-1

Project #4
These are star blocks…all are finished but I petered out when I saw that I needed 176 flying geese.  I am up for the challenge now!  I’d love to have this finished.  The quilt is from Pat Speth’s book, Nickel Quilts.

Star

Project #5
These pinwheel blocks are all completed.  I just never sewed them together and finished the project.  These are from Pat Speth’s book, Nickel Quilts book too.

Pinwheels

Project #6
This is a block of the month…never quite finished it.

BOM-onPoint

Project #7
This is a block of the month from Three Studios online.  I was doing great keeping up…then at the end they quickly added 3 blocks and gave about 7 different layout options and that’s where I petered out.  I am HORRIBLE at making decisions so I just didn’t make one and let the project sit.

Project #8
This is the Buck a Block quilt from the local quilt shop.  It’s currently running…I know this will get set aside because I am just not excited about it so I added it to the list.

BOM-BuckBlock

Project #9
Soot and Ashes blocks.  I love the little blocks but the finished quilt was just a bit too primitive for me so I am auditioning other options…maybe some cheddar fabric and using it for Halloween…

SootandAshes

Project #10
Trivet Kit…I started this several months ago when I first got my Accuquilt Go! and haven’t finished it.

Project #11
I have three wool kits here waiting for attention….I didn’t take a picture of them… I don’t plan to make all three, but I do plan to complete one when Judy draws #11.

Project #12
I have about three kits for quilts here….again, I didn’t take a picture of them.  I don’t plan to make all three but I do plan to complete one when Judy draws #12.

My other goals for the year are….

Complete these SIX quilt tops that are sitting by the machine upstairs…  One a month until finished.

QuiltMachine

I also want to
Work on my English Paper Piecing…One star finished and one diamond finished each month.
Complete one Quilt of Valor.
Complete a quilt for the Fireman’s Benefit.

I hope that finishing all these projects still leaves me time to sew some other things too….
I want to finish my Roll, Roll Cotton Ball Mystery….finish two leader and enders….get that Crab Apple quilt bound….start a REALLY hard quilt like Dear Jane…make the Hawaii Sunset 1845 quilt from Quilters newsletter magazine, make the Bittersweet Briar Cotton and Wool quilt from Kim Diehl’s Simple Graces book, finish my Tribute to Judy Quilt….Weave rugs fro my stair steps…oh the list goes on and on….

  1. You have some great quilts languishing in your UFO pile, good luck getting some of them done this year. For a REALLY hard quilt, I am loving the midget blocks. They are the same size as Dear Jane, but in more traditional patterns. The patterns are free at Sentimental Stitches.

  2. OMG…I’m wild about everyone one of these stunning works in progress. If you don’t want to finish them I’ll take them :) :)

Truly, you will have some real keepsakes, you have great taste in UFO’s!

  3. I’m exhausted just reading your list. I love all the great star blocks. I started a Blue Ridge Beauty a few years ago, then gave up. And now I really want to get that done this coming year. Thanks for reminding me about that one!

  4. Great projects and what beautiful fabrics. I am anxious to know what number is going to be selected in January, what fun.

  5. Is that an Inspira quilt frame? That’s what I have and it looks like it from what I can see. If it is, I’m wondering how you like it. I love mine. Btw, you have more stuff planned for next year than I would be likely to get finished, and I don’t see myself as a slouch. Good luck with that.

  6. My, you are ambitious! I too want to finish my Roll, Roll, Cotton Boll. I just signed up for the challenge and added RRCB and one other Bonnie Mystery. Also the Star Struck I started when Bonnie came to WA state. I will be reading along to see your progress!
    Cheers,
    Dionne
