UFO Challenge Update

From now until Bonnie Hunter’s new book comes out in September you’ll find me right here on Wednesdays sharing my progress on a UFO (unfinished project).  My hope is to get some finished so I won’t feel guilty sewing on new projects from her new book.  It’s not to late to join in the fun.  You can find my first post about it here.  You can see my listing of all my Bonnie Hunter UFOs here.

Did you see last Friday’s post?  I hope so.  I finished up Rick Rack Nines.

If you missed that post you can see it here….

Now that I have a completed quilt I’m trying to ramp up and work on another….Any guesses on what it might be?  If you guessed Texas Braid, you’d be right.  Sadly I don’t have time to only focus on it.  Remember all the those wedding quilts I needed?  Well the weddings are getting closer and closer so my time on them is running out.  BUT…I am bound and determined not to give up on these UFOs.  A little time goes a long ways and even if I can only work on them little by little, that’s what I’m doing.

Last week I told you I had nine of the braids done.  Now I am switching to braids that have are the mirror image but before I can to that I had to stop and finish sewing the red squares onto the white rectangles.

There were LOTS and LOTS to sew….then LOTS and LOTS to iron.

I have them all done so I am back in business and ready to start up sewing on the mirror image braids.

All of this means I am over half way done sewing this quilt.  Whoot-Whoot!!  I started this UFO as just a pile of cut out pieces.  I am so happy to see progress on it.

I’ll see you right back here next week.  I have a busy weekend with family so I don’t expect to have a lot to new to show…but who knows.  It’s suppose to be super hot here so I might be spending evenings indoors and that might give me sewing time.  Stop by next Wednesday to see.

  1. Jo….love how Rick Rack Nines turned out!!
Looking forward to a finish on Texas Braid…whenever it happens…..
I have to make another comment that doesn’t relate to your post today, but to one from a while ago….on that post you mentioned that you had taken some soft back books in (don’t remember where you took them, specifically) and had spiral bindings put on them….Well, I am getting ready to start a Farmers Wife quilt … from the original book… and I just have such a time dealing with the pages…..then I remembered your post…. So, yesterday afternoon I took my book in to a nearby Fed Ex store and they applied a spiral binding in about 5 minutes….It will be so much easier to use this book now….I never would have thought to do this if you had not posted about it on your blog….Thanks so much for sharing that with us!!

  2. After the inspiring finish of your Rik Rack Nines, I have counted my blocks. I have 158 done. I have done most of those as Leaders and Enders. I started cutting the light blocks out of scraps. I also got some denim 9 patches done

  3. I haven’t been too successful on my UFO’s. I only did 3 rows on my Narrangesett Blues quilt. And I still need more 4-patches. In fact I started another quilt! The quartered stripes quilt from Missouri Star Quilt Company. But I hope to finish this one and not let it linger in the UFO pile. but I am enjoying my quilting time. I always enjoy your posts, Jo.
