UFO Challenge

From now until Bonnie Hunter’s new book comes out in September you’ll find me right here on Wednesdays sharing my progress on a UFO (unfinished project).  My hope is to get some finished so I won’t feel guilty sewing on new projects from her new book.  It’s not to late to join in the fun.  You can find my first post about it here.  You can see my listing of all my Bonnie Hunter UFOs here.

I didn’t have my usual amount of sewing time this week.  The weekend was filled with family and fun that didn’t include much sewing time at all.  That’s okay.  That’s what summer is for!

I am still jumping around and haven’t been really concentrated on one project.  I’ve been a little frustrated with myself about that but then finally decided that I haven’t had any real “chunk” of time to work on anything.  I’ve had an hour here or there but no chunk of time.  When I have that kind of life going on I end up piecing.

So when I last left you on Rectangle Wrangle I had one block made…..

I don’t have any more blocks made but I do have this….all the strips are sewn together for the blocks.

I have this many…24 I think, cut and ready to sew together.    I am using my wonder clips to hold the strips for each block together.  I have the big ones and so far, they are working great.

It took two nap times to get these cut and clipped together.  I don’t get the hour to work on things during nap time anymore.  Since she started coming in April, I’ve had no nap time breaks to work on anything of mine.  I used to easily get a free hour.   She’s an excellent baby it’s just that babies take time and everything gets behind.   That’s all okay and part of my job but I’d be lying if I didn’t say I miss the break time.  These last few days she’s gotten much better and is in more of routine.  I had twenty minutes to myself two days in a row.  I was so happy that I was able to get theses cut and clipped.

This morning I’ll be piecing together a backing for my Rick Rack Nines.  I’m hoping to get that loaded and start the quilting on it.

Oh, and did you see I finished Jingle Bell Square?  If you missed that, you can find the quilt here.

So on my official tally…I started with 15 Bonnie Hunter UFO’s.  I have one finished.  I have progress on lots others but only one finished.

See you right back here new week.  I’m hoping to have a quilt closer to finished.

  1. Just finished the latest mystery top with borders. It is nice to have a reason to finish these. I also have one block done on the Rectangle Wrangle (2nd one). Doing it in Red, White and Blue with the Blues being the accent color instead of black.

  2. Thanks for this challenge, Jo! As with the one last year before Allietare, it has motivated me to get things finished. I completed my almost-done pile and am on to other work in progress. They aren’t all Bonnie quilts, but they ARE in need of attention. :) Best wishes and hopes for successful progress to all!

  3. Progress on Grand Illusion here, hoping for a top by the end of the month. Also trying to dig out the sewing room. I vow I will not let it get this out of control again.
