I’ve been super busy so really shouldn’t be trying to tackle two quilt alongs..but I am. It’s so nice that one is easy. Â The first one I’m doing is Split Square with Mary over at Country Threads. Â It’s very easy sewing and I’ve loved working on it. Â When I told Mary I was doing it she said that I could easily have it together in a weekend..and she was right….well kind of.
Last Saturday I cut the pieces out…
Kelli had come for a sewing day so I thought I’d piece these together and see how far I got…well, being I didn’t count my pieces as I cut, I got a little further than I anticipated…further than the pattern called for.
There were 57 white and 50 red. Â Hmm…that over double what I needed. Â Well now what should I do?? In my world, bigger is better and we got a save the date in the mail for a wedding next summer. Â PERFECT. Â I figured out. Â I have about 1/4 of the blocks done. Now I am back to the cutting table. Â I don’t have enough charm packs so I pulled fabric…first strips from my scrap users system, then on to fat quarters. Â Next up, cutting more blocks. Â I love making these blocks. Â It’s wonderful mindless sewing.
Mary had written a note to me teasing that she thought I wouldn’t be able to make the projects in the book and keep them small…first project and she’s right already!!  Oh my. By the way, Martingale, the publisher of Sew Charming is hosting a giveaway for the book. You can find that here. They also show lots more pictures of the quilts in the book. So that the news on the first quilt along…my other quilt along is Bonnie Hunter’s En Provence.  When I last blogged about it I had all of the pieces cut into twosies. See??
Now I am happy to say they are all finished and I’m ready for today’s clue.
Throughout all of the mysteries, I’ve never really gotten behind. Â I am not quick to finish once the last reveal is up but I do keep up with the clues. Â I am one of those people who hates being behind. Â Hopefully this year I’ll be able to keep up too.
Wow, you are ready for clue 2!! I have some of mine done for clue 1. I think the quilt from Mary is on my bucket list and I did order the book. It looks easy and so darn cute when its done. Now I need to print off clue 2 and see what fabrics I want to use.
Have a fun week Jo
I just finished the top with Mary and working on 2nd clue with Bonnie. Having a lot of fun and learning a lot.
