Turtle Scones

When Kayla was here we decided to do a little baking.  I mixed up a batch of chocolate chip cookies.  Find the recipe HERE.

Kayla said do you have any caramel?  I said I had some caramel that was in the ball form…this…

She said, “Perfect.  Let’s make turtle scones.”  Well I happen to know that turtle scones are Kayla’s favorite.  Her coffee shop in town makes them and Kayla gets coffee on scone day.

So she looked up a recipe online and we tried it.  This is how they turned out…YUM!!

Seriously, they were AWESOME!!  I really, really loved them.

Kayla had her’s with coffee.

They were so good and even good the next day.

We did make a few changes to the recipe and it was still good.  We didn’t have heavy whipping cream so used whole milk.

In hindsight we would cut the chocolate chips and the caramel to only 1/2 cup.  It was good but a little rich for us.  We also increased baking time a bit as our dough was a little sticky-maybe 5 minutes more.

They were so good and I highly recommend giving them a try.

UPDATE:  I forgot the recipe link.  HERE it is.
So our changes were
Whole milk instead of heavy whipping cream
1/2 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup of caramel bits

  1. I love scones but have never made them. Please share recipe, would love to give them a try. My latest favorite is white chocolate raspberry at local grocery store. Used to love the orange ones at Panera but they don’t have them anymore. Turtle sounds yummy!

  2. Jo – Wendy and I are asking for the scone recipe with the changes you incorporated. The link takes us to your chocolate chip cookie recipe. Can you give us the link for the scones. I have a bag of caramels behging to be used! Thanks in advance.
