Try It On Tuesday: “Nothing Like Me”

After years of paying for guitar lessons, dragging her to singing competitions and the like, out youngest daughter Kalissa published her first itunes album, Nothing Like Me.

Nothing Like Me

She wrote all the songs herself.  She performed them all herself too!!  She loves song writing best and would love to do it professionally.  It’s such a hard profession to enter into though… so she’s in a hard spot not knowing if she should try.   I think it’s all about catching a break…knowing someone who know someone-who knows someone-type of thing.  Do any of you know a someone who knows about the song writing profession??  Are you that someone who might know someone??  It’s a long shot but one I couldn’t help but try.  If you can help Kalissa make a connection, send me an email at rogjok@iowatelecom.com.

In the meantime, Kalissa is giving one copy of her album out to one of my lucky readers so leave a comment here if you’d like to win!!  My favorite song is the title track, “Nothing like Me”.  If you just want to purchase a copy of the single, you can do that here, Nothing Like Me, or you can get the whole album, Nothing Like Me here.

If you would like to win a hard copy, leave a comment here and we’ll pick out a winner next week.

  1. I listened to all the tracks and they are all great. You should be very proud! I think my favorite was “My Kind of Man”. My son has been writing and recording his own music for a few years. He also firmly believes that you need to know someone, etc. I know deep down in his heart this is what he wants to do, but not sure about the right way to go about it. I’m sorry I can’t offer any advice on the song writing profession. Kalissa is very talented, and I would love to win her CD. Thanks for the chance!

  2. Congrats to your daughter on her first album! I hope and pray she finds a way into the music field – she’s very talented!

  3. Congrats to Kalissa and the whole family. I’m sure it was a journey for all of you. I wish her luck on reaching her goals. She really has a talent.

  4. I listened to the samples and Kalissa has a beautiful voice and I love the songs. She has a wonderful talent. She should try out for American Idol.

  5. Mom and Dad should be very proud of their talented daughters. Hoping for a break for Kalissa in her music career.

  6. I know you are one proud Moma. This is my daughters dream…She has a long road to go though. Congratulations to your daughter.

What a brave thing, to self-publish an album! Congrats to Kalissa and thanks to her for sharing her crumb quilt at the retreat. Wish I knew someone in the music industry who could help her take that next step. All the luck in the world to her.

  8. I sent Kalissa’s link to our college girl. She and I both love music and she’s always sharing new artists and songs she has discovered with me. I am excited to finally share something new and wonderful with her! :) One of the things I miss the most is hearing the kids; music. Our boy plays the guitar and our girl plays the piano. It is much too quiet around here these days. Wishing Kalissa all the best! She has the pipes and song writing talent to make it happen. Hey, what about the Texas Country scene? Is that maybe easier to break into?

  9. I listened to her songs yesterday. She is extremely talented. I wish I had the connections to help her. I’m sure that something will come her way.

  10. It’s great that Kalissa has the spunk to get an album put together and get it out there so people can enjoy her talent. It’s kind of like the Powerball lottery…..you can’t win if you don’t buy a ticket. Well, Kalissa’s bought her ticket and I hope someone with the right connections hears her music and makes her dream come true. Congrats, Kalissa.

  11. Music makes my world go round! Any kind. . .okay, wait! NOT ANY KIND, I am not a hip hop, rap kind of girl, but love country, classic rock, and oldies. WAY TO GO KALISSA!!! Keep putting yourself out there. . .good things will come to you.

  12. How enterprising of her to pursue this!! So proud!
I would love to have her album and would let everyone I know listen too.

  13. How totally cool for her!!! I wish I knew someone in the biz – I’d love to help her :( I would love to have a copy of her CD to play while I quilt!!!

  14. Listened to the samples on Amazon, Kalissa did an amazing job. Hope she finds her way in the music biz. Congrats on a job well done.

  15. I’d love to win a copy of the album

It’s great to see a young and talented singer/songwriter getting herself out there.
