Let’s start with announcing last week’s winner of the 200 Blocks From Quiltmaker Magazine quilt book…it’s…..Karen M who said, “I am a pieced block kind of gal. Especially traditional blocks.”
Now for today’s Try it on Tuesday….Martingale and Company sent me a great book to check out. “Pretty Patchwork Quilts: Traditional Patterns with Applique Accents” by Cyndi Walker has some great looking quilting that you will want to see…and probably make. I am not a applique girl but this book has me tempted. The book just came out last month…it’s that new!
I love red too so the cover quilt grabbed me right from the start. There are 12 quilt patterns in all.
Here’s more applique…and I like it too. She does a great job with color choices….
There are some wonderful star quilts in the book….
more stars….
But this is my favorite of the star quilts….This one had my thinking I was going to keep the book. The border is so striking.
The quilts in the book are primarily lap or throw or wall hanging sized.
Cyndi Walker is a new to me designer but she isn’t new to the quilting world. She has published a previous book, Spotlight On Scraps: 10 Pretty Quilts. It looks like a good one too. The quilts in that publication don’t feature as many applique projects. I did a little more investigation and found out that Cyndi blogs at Wishful Stitches.
If you want a chance to win the book, leave a comment telling your favorite quilt book.
If you like giveaways, here’s a heads up, Sew Mama Sew is hosting a huge one!! Here’s my entry for it.

Awesome! Umm … favorite quilt book? Hard to say, since I’ve been getting most of my quilty inspiration from online sources lately. I’m grateful for an old book my mom had, called “Template-Free Quiltmaking” because, years ago, it made me realize how possible it is to rotary-cut and fast-piece so many things.
Looks like a fun book with cool patterns. Would love to have this to try.
It would be hard for me to pick a favorite book. I buy many books just for the inspiration. I love to browse a quilting book.
Any quilt book is my favorite.

Then of course there are the Miss Rosie quilt books and Sdyta Sitar books —. see I told you choosing just one is impossible. Thank you for the contest.
I’m not sure what my favorite quilt book is…. But this one could be my new favorite
My favorite quilt book is a black and white small paperback quilting book that my aunt gave me as a child. The book covered the history of traditional American Quilts.
I don’t remember the name of the book, but it is my favorite simply because an aunt I seldom saw recognized my love of sewing and took the time to encourage me to follow a dream.
My favorite book is called “Stars”. I can’t tell you the author b/c I laid it down somewhere to be safe and it hasn’t surfaced so have to order a new copy.
