If you are a reader of any quilt designer’s blogs, you are sure to have heard hype over the new Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Magazine. Â I know I am a fan of the magazine and end up purchasing one each time the magazine comes out. Â If you have missed some of the past magazines and want to get 200 of the blocks all in one magazine, your chance is here.
That Patchwork Place a division of Martingale and Company sent me their new book 200 Blocks from Quiltmaker Magazine to review.
They brought together their favorite blocks and put them all in one book. Â The book comes with a CD that has all the printable patterns.
I spent the night looking through the book. Â Each block has the designers name and website. Â I’ve been busy checking out some new to me websites…it’s been lots of fun. Â There is a great mix of applique, pieced, paper pieced, and blocks that have more than one technique. Â There is also a great mix of blocks from different styles too. Â Some are modern…some civil war and some novelty type designs, even some embroidery.
I the last chapter of the book they have a section called “Playing with Blocks”. Â Here they take several of the blocks and put them together in a quilt layout. Â It’s fun to see how the block come together to make neat designs. Â That’s one of my favorite parts of quilting is bring blocks together to create designs.
One of my favorite blocks in the book is Birthday Girl…it’s Bonnie Hunter‘s block.  All of the featured blocks formatted to have a half page layout just like this one.
There are other great blocks in there too…199 more in fact!!
Want a chance to win the book….just leave a comment here telling which type of block is your favorite…pieced, applique, embroidered, paper pieced or a mix.
Before you go,
Stop back later and I’ll tell you who won last week’s Ecolux Light.
I have been sewing one quilttop after another, but I haven’t quilted just one yet. The most lovely quilttop I made was from Bonnie Hunter’s “Hidden Spools” pattern – I guess I’m a real fan of all her stuff since she makes everything seem so easy.
I should probably try t5o write one or two blogposts about what I have been up to so that all you others can see.
Thanks for the chance to win that magazine – I loooove trying out new blocks. (Most of them end up as highlights on my backings though…)
I love trying new blocks. I am falling in love with half square triangles. Love their versatility. Thanks for the chance to win this book.
i like pieced blocks! wonky ones are my favorite!
Love the sound of this new book. Would love to win if not to late for the drawing. Enjoy doing applique along with machine piecing. Thanks
I love trying new blocks. I am just starting to use half square triangles. Thanks for the opportunity to win this book
I am all for pieced blocks – and paper pieced. This book really looks neat – thanks for a chance!
right now i love grannys
I’m not fond of embroidered blocks but like everything else!
Hi, Thanks for the giveaway.
I am currently really enjoying piecing. I have been patchworking for about 5 years and have never tried it before. I have picked up so much with block swaps.
Hugs
Raelene
My favorite is pieced and I like most any block with HST. Thanks for the chance to win this book!
Gloria
I like all blocks, all techniques. Somedays a simple pieced block is nice or
if I feel up to a challenge, several techniques in one block is fun and challenging.
I really like piecing blocks. Love to try and get the points to come together.
Thanks so much for the giveaway.
Pingback: What I’m Working On…
I’ve just started quilting again so a chance to win this book is perfect.
I’m trying a quilt that uses applique minkee, which is a first for me. :-)
I love pieced blocks and paper pieced blocks, especially those with a scrappy look. Thanks for the opportunity for the chance with the book.
I love to piece! My second favorite would be paper piecing. And applique is on my “Things I’d Like to Learn” list, waaay down near the bottom!
Mostly I do pieced blocks however, I enjoy learning and trying other techniques. Thanks for the chance to win this book. I enjoy your Blog.
I haven’t ventured past pieced blocks. Looks like a great book. Thanks for the chance to win.
I love pieced and paper pieced. Applique scares me! Unless I can do it on the machine, then it’s fun.
I really loved piecing the blocks but I seem to have many embroidered blocks as well. Need to have something to do in the evenings in front of the TV. I struggle with applique but would like to try paper piecing. Love your blog, thanks for a chance to win.
My favorites are traditional pieced blocks where there are secondary designs developed when two different ones come together. I love that!
I love pieced blocks. I love the geometry of them and the ingenuity designers have in putting them together.
I love pieced blocks. I love the challenge of Bonnies block and quilts. It would be fun to win this book. thanks,
Vicki
I like pieced blocks the best!
My favorite blocks are pieced, especially 9-patch. Thanks for offering the giveaway.

Pieced blocks win with me every time.
I am a pieced block kind of gal. Especially traditional blocks.
I like to piece and paper piece. I don’t have a love for applique. I find that getting the backing ready slows me down. I don’t have an affinity for pieced and tons of borders so that doesn’t get me slowed down but if I tried those things…..different story. Love your quilt is is really pretty in pinks and reds.
My favorite is plain old piecing. I love cutting up little bits of fabric and watching a block come together – even Y seams! My stalling point is the finished top. I don’t usually do borders, just have the pattern go all the way to the edge. I think it’s the basting that does me in.
I like the versatility of 1/2 square triangles and flying geese so I guess pieced blocks are my favorite but would love to be able to applique like some of my friends. Always something new to learn. Thanks for the opportunity to win this fabulous magazine.
Marge
My favourite blocks are pieced, even though I am a bit partial to hand applique too!
I love all kinds of blocks – modern, traditional, pieced, HST’s, QST’s… everything! I just need more time to sew ;) Thanks for the chance to win.
My favorites are hand appliqué, esp. the old fashioned wreaths, Rose of Sharon style.
I really like pieced blocks but can easily be persuaded to do paper piecing and even some applique. Ok, let’s just say I like them all! This sounds like a great book to get. Thanks for the chance.
Hope it’s not too late to enter! My favorite blocks are peiced.
This looks like a great book! And I like to piece or paper-piece my blocks. Maybe one day I’ll learn to like appliqué if I ever learn the correct technique!
