Each Thursday we pick an old blog post and retell about it…thus Throwback Thursday.
When I was scrolling through old blog post to bring to light something from the past I decided to just look in September of 2011 to see what I was up to three years ago. I came across the Crumb Quilt Along and immediately knew I had to spotlight it.
At the time I had made this improv quilt….
The quilt was for my daughter Kalissa and was made out of leftovers from a couple quilts I had cut out from men’s shirts. It started out as improv quilting but then I added a twist to it by making star blocks, flying geese, hearts, churn dash, shoo fly and broken dishes blocks to the mix.
When blog readers saw it, I got many-many compliments on it. From there I decided to do a quilt along.
Of all the quilts that I’ve made, this one is near and dear to my heart. It’s a whole lot of nothing that turned into a something. Every so often I get the itch to do some improv piecing -typically whenever I see this quilt.
You can ready all of the information about the quilt along, learn how to make the blocks and check out the projects other blog readers did by following this link.
While doing the quilt along I went on to make this quilt….
and this quilt.
Seeing them has given me the itch to make another…but alas, I have other projects in the queue. That isn’t preventing me from saving scraps though.
All three of these quilts are definitely quilts in my top 10 favorites!!..and that is Throwback Thursday!
