Throwback Thursday–The Scrumptious Quilt

From Kelli:

I’m usually not a big of a poster on Facebook, but I really like how I can look back and see what I was doing in previous years.  It seems like there’s a something on Facebook for every day–Man Crush Monday, Women Crush Wednesday, and my favorite, Throwback Thursday. My sister Kalissa has mastered the art of Throwback Thursday!  There was a while that I would cringe as soon as I woke up, remembering it was Thursday, and hoping that the picture Kalissa posted wasn’t toooo embarrassing.  She has definitely mastered the art of Throwback Thursday.  Here are a few of my favorites–

TBT with Grandma Kramer

This one I really like.  Since our grandparents lived a ways away when we were growing up, we didn’t get to see them too much, but when we did, it was a real treat.  Here we are with Grandma Kramer (dad’s mom).  I always loved going to her house because she always had treats, would play cards with me, and let us listen to the police scanner.  If we asked, she would even play the Wheel of Fortune board game with us.

TBT Kalissa's Birthday
Here’s a picture from Kalissa’s 4th (?) birthday.  If you ask her, she will tell you that this was one of her best birthdays because she got Disney’s Anastasia movie.  I do remember watching that movie over and over with her.  You can also see that chubby cheeks sure run in our family!

When I was talking to mom last week, I told her that we should do a “Throwback Thursday” on the blog.  So, starting this Thursday, we are.  We will be highlighting a previous post that we have written.  We will be highlighting posts that share a good recipe, a free quilt tutorial or pattern, or maybe just a good laugh!

This week, we are bringing back the Scrumptious quilt.  You can find our original post here.

Churn Dash Quilt

When we originally posted about this quilt, we shared the quilting motif that was used but also promised a tutorial for the pattern.  Then we forgot our promise. We don’t have it done quite yet, but we are working on bringing you the pattern that will be featured as a free pattern that you can make from fabric in your stash.  We love that it is a quick and easy quilt.  Stop back later today and we’ll have the pattern ready for you then.

Mom and I have been working on a few things here at the blog–We are working on revamping the tutorials section so that you can now access the tutorials at the top of the page from the Tutorials drop down menu by category.  We are also working on adding new tutorials and if you haven’t had a chance to check us out on Pinterest lately, we are slowly but surely working on adding many of our tutorials and recipes to Pinterest so that you can quickly see what wonderful goodies we have.

If there is ever anything that might make the blog easier for you to navigate or you have a suggestion of something you might like to see on the blog, be sure to let us know.  You can email us at rogjok@iowatelecom.net with any ideas.  We would love to hear what your thoughts are!  We also thought about offering a Linky Party for other bloggers to link up with their own Throwback Thursday….if you’re interested leave a comment here.

  1. Wow! I love the idea of having a “Throwback Thursday”! As someone who saves the scraps ( and has more than a few totes full) this quilt really has my name on it!

  2. It’s great to see the old photos. Love the quilt and will definitely be putting one together. A possible suggestion for the blog site would be a tab at the top for you free patterns so they are in one place to search.

  3. I love the quilt and will be excited to have the tutorial. Thanks for all you do for us out in BlogLand. I really appreciate and look forward to reading your posts!
