Each Thursday we link back to an archived blog post to reminisce. Today is one of those days.
Back in September of 2010 I got an idea to try raw edge applique. I wanted to try it on my quilting machine though and wondered if I could do it. That’s how this quilt came about.
At the time I was doing some work with AccuQuilt and ended up making a video on how I did this. AccuQuilt then asked if they could feature the quilt at the Houston Quilt Market. That’s what go me thinking about pattern designing.
You can find all the information to make the quilt here.
This quilt was so fun to make and you don’t need a long arm to do it. A girlfriend of mine made one on her domestic machine. The fun thing is that you create the quilt while you and machine quilting it. If you have a long arm and need some practice with it, this is the perfect project for it.
I have to say at the time I made this I had no idea that quilt designing would be something that I’d end up doing a lot of.
At the time, Kalissa was still living at home and helped me shoot a video that shows how I made it.
You can find all the information about the quilt here or you can find a link to Bubbly quilt in the FREE PATTERN listing at the top of the page under our banner.
