Last week I went to physical therapy. I started again after I had a little incident a few weeks ago. There was a ball on the front lawn when I went to get the mail. I decided to kick it to the garage door, then I would pick it up and put it in the garage. Instead of kicking it, I somehow got the ball under my foot, my right leg (yes the bad one) went forward, and I ended up falling forward. I caught myself with my hands and didn’t actually fall. Whew…but later I figured out I screwed up my groin muscle in my right leg. UGH. So right after I had radiation, I talked to my local doctor and asked to be referred to PT.
Lucky me, PT is right next to the thrift store. I’ll be honest. I picked to go to PT there because of the thrift store…But I stayed there because I love Steve at PT.
Anyway, after PT, I went to the thrift store.
It was a good day thrifting. I bought this shelf for $10. I didn’t know if I would have a spot for it. I risked it because I was pretty sure that if I didn’t have a spot, Kelli would. It would be great for displaying cross-stitch pieces…or fat quarters. Kelli has never set up her sewing room.

Speaking of cross stitch, I got this wooden box. I’ll put it in my basement frame shop and one day will finish a cross-stitch piece on it.

It was a nice find for $1.50. Better yet, I don’t have anything this shape.

In the fabric section, I got this scrap for 50 cents. I thought it would make a nice backing for cross stitch pillows.

They had a big roll of off white fabric. It was marked as $5. I am always looking for a neutral background fabric. There seemed to be quite a bit on the roll. I decided to get it. I came home, unrolled it, and roughly measured it. There are five yards.

That was a good deal. I ended up folding it up as that is better storage for me.
Then I found this…

A quilt top!! WOW. Better yet, it’s pretty. I love the applique.

It looks like it was made from a fabric line. I looked and looked and couldn’t find a price.

I decided to put it in my cart and then ask when it was time to pay. If it was too expensive, I would tell them I didn’t want it.
I got to the register, and two people were there. I told them I couldn’t find a price on it. The guy looked, and he couldn’t find one either. The gal said, “Well any unmarked fabric is 50 cents.” WHAT??? I heard right. The quilt top was only 50 cents!!!
I bought it!! I was thinking it was going to be closer to $25.
I got it home and laid it out to take pictures of it so I could share it with you here on the blog. Now I’m wishing I had about 3/4 yard more of the background fabric. I think it would look better with a 3″ border all the way around it, and then bind it in a color that is in the quilt. Does anyone have any of this fabric? I have no idea what the fabric line is.
My plan is to finish it and then donate it to a benefit in the area. Oh, I’m glad I found this!!
I also found a ladies’ Iowa Hawkeyes shirt in yellow…and it fit perfect.
I had a wonderful day at the thrift store. It’s been a bit since I had an awesome day thrifting, so this was an extra fun day.

Your bargain quilt top is from Kim Diehl’s book, Simple Charm. The pattern is Snow in Summer. What a find!
I think the tan fabric is from Henry Glass and is called Bramble Berries. You had a very good day at the thrift store. Prayers for healing.
Wow – what great finds! Especially that quilt top? Whoa! They had no idea what they had I guess?
Love and prayers
It’s Branble Berry by Henry Glass with reproduction and civil war fabrics.
Dianne R, yes! Henry Glass fabric, designed by Buggy Barn, perhaps?

You had great luck at the thrift store! Especially the quilt top!
Jo, I have a piece of the background but in the blue instead of the beige. Please check you email for my message.
What a great thrifting haul! I agree that the quilt top could use a border so hope you are able to get the fabric. It will be a beautiful quilt.
I am so jealous of your thrift store quilt top. It’s so beautiful. I know you will turn it into something special. Can’t wait to see the finished product.
P.S. I also love the wood shelf. It would be so perfect for fat quarters!
That quilt top was a fantastic deal! I love it, it’s so pretty! I love the wood cabinet too. I went thrifting with my daughter yesterday and we found some neat things. It was just fun to spend the day together! I hope the PT is working. Hugs,
