Warning:
This blog has gone to the toilet…Literally.
If you are a mom or wife, I’m sure you have been at least tempted to conduct this experiment….I am sure the thought has at least crossed your mind. Â Well I broke down and decided quite some time ago, that I was going to test my family….I am testing them to see how many empty toilet paper tubes can lay around in the bathroom before someone puts some toilet paper on the holder.
Here’s the empty holder….
And here’s what is on the sink next to the toilet.
No joke! Â Yes my family has been through three full rolls of toilet paper and still it has occurred to no one to actually throw the old rolls away or to put the new roll on the holder.
How long do you think it will take? Â Who do you think will end the experiment first…me because I can’t stand it anymore or them.
I’ll keep you posted!
Sorry for the rant….it’s just one of those days…..
oh my God, how I can relate to this one. I could pull my hair out over this. What is so hard about putting a roll of paper on the holder? WHAT? I even went as far as pulling all the toilet paper out of the cabinet and told one of them when they needed some that since they couldn’t put it on the toilet rack, they didn’t deserve any. That lasted all of a few days. Now they’re back at it and it drives me nuts!! I’d hate to imagine what would happen if I wasn’t here for a week or two. Empty rolls would probably be lined up on the edge of the sink.
I read a hint on another blog… PINCH the roll before you put it on…it doesn’t roll as smoothly so they use less…which I guess means it would take longer to add to that pile…and ME? I would wait until someone else threw them away…
Too funny! At least my twins snatch up the empty rolls to use as pretend bugles! Still no new roll…! Thank you for the chuckle!
I’m so glad this is not just at my house…. I have done this very same thing – with the same results.
In the end…. I lost it! Now they aren’t real fast at throwing the tubes away – but it seems to only take a day or two at this point. With only DH and DS here now, my biggest problem is having them replenish the new rolls in the cabnet.
Thanks for the smiles….
mine change the roll, but throw the empty tube on the floor or set it behind the toilet…I’ve had at least 3 or 4 rolls on the floor….you’d think they could just put it in the trash….I guess it is easier to walk around the mess..!
It’s just DH & me here, but he leaves a little bit on the old roll, I guess there isn’t enough there for him, and then starts the new roll, and just lets it sit. And then he has the audacity to tell me that I did not put the new roll on the ‘right’ way! Men!!
Let me tell you from my experience…..HELL will freeze over before anyone other than YOU puts a fresh roll on the holder! I even spent big bucks (well, to me!) for a tp holder that you just
slide the tp on, no pulling off of the holder blah blah blah, like that is that hard anyway!
Didn’t finish my thought………they stillllll did not put the tp on
the new easier tp holder. They did pretty much what your family is doing.
OMG, I thought we were the only ones. I even had a lesson with all of us crowding into the bathroom so I could show everyone where the button was that releases the old paper roll. It had little or no effect whatsoever. I can’t wait to hear how long it takes!!!!
I quite often change the roll when empty, but if my dear spouse has to change it once in a blue moon, you’d think she has done the world a great service that day! Crazy!
I’ve decided that everyone that uses our bathrooms is physically incapable of replacing the toilet paper. It’s my talent to be able to do this.
That is so funny! I think I have done that before…let it sit to see how long it would take. My husband is pretty good about it, so it didn’t take that long. But I can see in some houses it would! You are too funny!
I hear ya! The same would happen at my house – it’s the little things, isn’t it? Every once in a while my husband and I have a little stand off re something – like in the episode of Eveybody Loves Raymond and putting the suitcase away.
This is just one of those things that I gave up on! I figure I’m going to pick my battles and this just isn’t one of them. It’s still totally frustrating, just like getting the dirty laundry in the hamper.
I have removed 10 loo roll inners into our recycling bin this week, they had been there at least a month. maybe longer (I live in houseful of adults!)
I would never win the hold out…I have had this happen at my house too..the trash is RIGHT NEXT to the toilet…how hard is it I ask myself? Apparently quite hard! Keep that sense of humor, it will get you through!
How funny that we all go though this same thing!!!
Hang in there!

I gave up at about the point you’re at right now. And, like Angela, the trash can is directly between the toilet and the sink. Makes no difference; it’s like they can’t even *see* it.
…and by “family” you mean everyone except me. I totally change the rolls.
oh, can I relate to this. grrrrr! LOL
Too funny – I was sitting minding my own business ;-) when toilet paper ran out and I put a new one on. Just for laughs, I threw the empty one in the sink. Someone had picked it up and laid it aside on the counter. Like I was going to save it or something? LOL!
