Our daughter Kalissa has been doing nursing clinicals . Â Her latest clinical rotation has been caring for people who have mental illness. Â Anyway it’s been a LONG rotation for her driving an hour there and back each day. Â One day she came home super happy. Â She had been to the bakery at the facility and had bought scones for us all. Â I know this is likely silly to many of you but we had never had scones. Â I had thought to make them to give them a try but I always thought they would be hard to make….WRONG!!
After Kalissa introduced us to scones I decided it was time to find a recipe and give them a try…and boy oh boy am I glad I did.
I started out by watching a couple youtube videos to learn the method but then went to the internet to find a recipe. Â I just wanted something basic and nothing fancy. Â I hate fancy recipes wanting ingredients that I don’t just have on hand so I often pass them up.
I ended up trying this recipe called Simple Scones.  It had basic ingredients that I always have on hand.  I added blueberries that were in the refrigerator that needed to get used up.  My oh my..they are yummy.  I will be making these again and again.  Everyone was impressed with them…what’s not to love butter and sour cream all rolled up in one.
I did learn a few things. Â I’ll try to make a more defined edge…I’ll cut them in smaller pieces too. Â I love when I discover simple and easy recipes that are quick and that the family thinks is a treat!!
I love homemade scones. Found that if I studded the top with the berries or fruit, it was easier when using fresh fruit. I cut and bake and wow, love them warm.
