The Newest at the Library

I am an avid reader.  I have been ever since I remember.  Some of the fondest memories of my life were when my  mom read to me.  She read the children’s Bible, many of The Black Stallion, Boxcar Children, and other juvenile fiction books to me when I was young.  I still love it when people read to me…that’s why I listen to books on tape or CD.  Here are two of the books I listened to this week.

Last year, my daughter Kayla told me about a new program that libraries in our area have put together.  It’s called NEIBORS.  Library Patrons who have a library card from participating libraries can go on the site and download audio books onto your computer for free!  You can listen to them on your computer or transfer them to your MP3 or Ipod.  I LOVE it!  When I am on the computer working on my website or the blog, I am usually listening to a book.  I transfer books to my MP3 player and listen to them while I sew too. 

I can check out two books at a time and can only have the books for one week.  The best thing of all, when the week is up, the library takes the book back.  It’s awesome…no overdue book  fees!  By listening to these books it makes my days at the computer fly by and it has opened me up to books I might not have read that were GREAT!  A few favorites include:

Here’s my confession, I have gotten library cards from several of the area libraries so I can check out more that two books a week.  Sometimes, I listen to three or four depending how much time I am at the computer during the week and how long the book is.

I know most of you can’t join this particular library group, but your local library might have a similar group.  If you like books it’s definitely worth looking into!
