The house is a little further along than it was last time I showed you pictures. Â Now there is siding on the front. The scallops are in the front peak.
The north side saw progress too.
I have to say I really love the scallops!
I spent all day doing things for the house. Â I moved a truck load of thing…more stuff from the basement. Â In fact our basement here at the farm is almost empty. Â Ya-hoo. Â I’ve been trying to take at least a few boxes of things each time I go. Â That way once we move for real, it won’t be quite as taxing.
I spent the rest of the day working on sanding and mudding the sheet rock in the two spare bedrooms. Â It’s a nasty job but one that has to be tackled. Â I was worried how my wrist would take it but all is well. Â I have more to do tomorrow so I hope it hold out. Â I bought a second support for my wrist. Â I’m wearing one 24/7 and that has been really good for it. Â Hopefully it will make it through the move.
A family friend stopped by the house today and brought me 10 great moving boxes-all with lids. Â Then Karl came home and had stopped at the grocery store and he brought boxes too. Â My walls are starting to get bare. Â It’s a happy and sad thing.
That’s the state of the house as of tonight.
Today I am thankful that Hubby and I are resourceful. Â I would be so unhappy if we couldn’t do all the things that we do. Â I would hate to have to wait around and hire people to do all the things that we need done. Â As much as I hate working with the sheet rock I am thankful that I can do it. Â We’re not perfect at things but we do acceptable work and I am good with that. Â In the upcoming weeks I’ll be testing my skills more than I care to…after the sheet rock comes painting..LOTS of painting!
looking so good! I like those red chairs on the porch too!
The home is wonderful and you are doing such a great job. Yes, we need to be thankful.
Love the scallops, too! And the grey siding really makes the white trim pop. Great decision.
The house looks great! The scallop trim is beautiful. Good choice. You and hubby have worked so hard doing so much of the work and it is paying off. Take care of the wrist, Jo!
I really like how the house is coming along. It won’t be that long now! Good luck with the packing.
I am enjoying watching the progress on your house. It is looking very good.
So excited! I must try to write a blog soon. We have been updating our kitchen. the granite arrived on Friday. now to get the stuff all back in the kitchen!
I love the house, so nice and roomy and yours and hubby’s hand prints are all over it, plus the children’s. I am Thankful it will be done in time for CHRISTmas.
Looking good and you are so smart to take boxes over each time you go over to the new house!! How fun that two of you are moving at the same time!!! Can’t wait to see pictures of the finished interior with all your stuff where it belongs!!
Very happy that you are loving your scallop decision – looks great. I love the pop of red that those chairs add to the front porch.
Love the scallops also. My husband and I have built our house mostly ourselves. He is a carpenter, but when he was really working there was not time for our house and when he wasn’t working there wasn’t any money for our house. Needless to say we worked on it for many years and it still isn’t totally finished. Like you, we couldn’t have what we have if we had to hire people to do it. It is all worth it in the end.
Right now I live in a home that I don’t feel like I can do anything to so we don’t mess up the “resale” value. I loved my farmhouse because I could do what I wanted to do with it and make it mine. Enjoy every part of your new home. It’s a labor of love between you and hubby and that makes it a wonderful home! I’m proud for you :)
