I’ve told you that I got swamped with charity quilts….SO SWAMPED. It’s okay but there were so many I had to come up with a plan.
Temporarily the plan is halt all of my own sewing and work on them. Then I looked. Then I counted and then I fretted. There were so many. How was I ever going to tackle them? I decided right then and there that the quilts were going to get under control. PERIOD.
I told Kelli that once I was cleared from the doctor to do them during my quarantine, that’s I was going to do. Charity quilts and that’s it. She said she thought I should have some personal sewing time but I said I really wanted to get these caught up. That’s when I decided I was going to start on them full speed ahead, but NOW….and that’s what I’ve been doing. Here I am doing two baby quilts at once.
Then last week half jokingly-half serious I said something that I should have a binding party. Well Kelli and I talked about it and decided that might be best….but it’s a virtual binding party. Here’s the details.Three people/groups have stepped up so far. We made a few guidelines for anyone who wanted to volunteer to bind a quilt. This is how we set it up.
1-A volunteer tells if you’d like one or two quilts to bind.
2-They tell me the size preferred to work on…I have baby, to lap, to single to queen.
3-I send it to them
4-They bind it and send me a picture of the quilt finished along with the name of the original maker of the quilt top
5-They pick a charity or worthy cause to donate it to, tell me the charity and donate it.
6-I write a blog post about it.
The NE Iowa Quilt Guild’s Binky Patrol group is taking these five flannel baby quilts. They are all machine quilted and just need to be bound.
The other bag I am taking with and delivering to Mary Jo in Lacrosse when I go to the doctor this week. There are three quilts in that bag.
For now, that’s what’s done and ready to go. I am so excited. That’s EIGHT, yes EIGHT that are one their way to to final completion. I couldn’t be happier. I am still doing more…I have another volunteer so I need to get some more finished so they can be sent on.
GO JO, GO!!
