Taking the “X” out of XL

Since last September, I have lost 36 pounds.  It’s enough that I am in clothing 2 sizes smaller.  The problem….my wallet is not two sizes bigger.  Today I drug out my serger and the pile of knit t-shirts and tops and took the “X” out of their XL size.

I have lost weight two other times and ended up yoyo-ing back up.  So I know, there’s no guarantee that I will stay here.  I’d like to think that I finally realize that this is a life style change but…we’ll see what the scale says in five years.  In the mean time, rather than purchasing all new clothes I’m just sewing the side seams in…. I don’t want to dip into my fabric budget for new clothes!

  1. Congrats on the weight loss – it is so hard to do and I think harder to keep it off. Good luck and great idea with the clothes.

  2. Congratulations on the weight loss. That is fantastic. Way to go on getting those clothes smaller! Don’t you wish you got $100 for every pound you lost so you could buy a new wardrobe?! That would be so rewarding! :-) Good solution in the meantime!

    1. It would be FABULOUS if a person got $100 for every pound….I probably would spend it on fabric instead of clothes. I am just the crazy about fabric!

  3. Way to go!! I too have lost 40 lbs since January. I so hope I never go back there either. I actually gave my other clothes away. I wasn’t thrifty like you either – I bought new clothes (lots from the second-hand store though.)

  4. I wish I could lose weight. I’ve joined the Gym, I’m watching my carbs ( newly diagnosed with pre-diabetes)- I lost 7 lbs right away, but have inched back up again. It’s so frustrating!
