I’m doing pretty good…well actually I am doing really good.
I ended up taking today off too and will be back with the kids tomorrow…but even tomorrow is a slow day with just a few kids.
My kiddos were all here this weekend floating in Friday afternoon and leaving Sunday by noon. Â It was great to see all of them and get some pampering. Â I found they are actually pretty good at pampering me. Â Typically I try to be the one doing the pampering.
I’m not taking pain pills. Â I haven’t since Friday. Â Honestly, there really isn’t pain with it. Â The incision looks bruised and a little angry so it’s hard to believe that it just plain does not hurt. Â I’m a little stiff…and my neck feels a little “tight” but no pain. Â My throat is the bigger issue…that actually is sore but it’s hard to know if it’s related to my voice which is scratchy and a bit quiet, or my actual throat. Â Either way, it’s all manageable and I feel so good.
One of the biggest pains is bathing. Â Kalissa has been coming over and helping me wash my hair in the basement utility sink. Â I can’t get my incision wet so this is our option…I have enjoyed the excuse of taking a long bath though. Â I even splurged and bought some bubble bath.
I’ve gotten cards, flowers and well wishes that have all been so very appreciated.
For the most part I’ve been about as good, listening to you all to take it easy, as I can- without going completely crazy. Â I have been doing a lot of this….
ripping the papers off my Pineapple Crazy blocks. Â I’ve been working and working and working on them determined to have them done before I am up and at ’em again. Â I really only have a small stack left so I think it’s actually going to happen. Â That is going to be a wonderful job to have caught up. Â From then on, I am going to rip the papers as I go.
I think it’s safe to say I am quickly making it down the road to recovery. Â I’ll be glad when I am completely free to drive again but that won’t happen until sometime after my follow up appointment on Thursday.
In the meantime, popsicles are still my friend. Â Banana flavored are my favorite.
I’ll let you know what the doctor says on Thursday but I’m looking for good news…cancer free nodules, permission to drive and ticket on to life beyond thyroid surgery.
So good to hear, Jo! You will be back on task in no time. How sweet to have good help at home from the family. Take care!
Thank you for the update. Glad to hear that you had an extra day off. No pain is awesome. Praying for a cancer free report too!
So glad all the kids came by for a visit and that you are doing so very well!!! Looking forward to awesome reports on Thursday!!
Hoping this is too late to be helpful, but No Rinse Shampoo has been a lifesaver here more than once. After my sugery, and Hubby’s, and when the well is out. It’s not quite as good as a real shower, but it sure feels better than going without!
While I do hope you continue to recover well, it’d be a shame to lose an excuse for more banana popsicles. ;^)
you are doing great ! it’s nice to hear from you.
Glad to know you are doing so well. I don’t comment much, but enjoy all of your posts and look forward to them.
Thanks for the update, glad to hear you are doing so well, with the bonus of having your pineapple blocks de-papered!! Hugs to you.
That’s why I’m going to use Crazy Mom’s pattern for Pineapples without the paper! Glad you are on the mend.
xoxo
