Well they say no news is good news but with stash reports….I don’t believe that is true. Â If I had news about fabric purchased, that would mean I had fun shopping. Â If I had fabric used, that would mean I had fun sewing. Â No news….that just means that life got in the way of my sewing very much this week.
I finally got to work sewing on my new Moda Bake Shop project using the Moda fabric line Terrain.
I had everything cut out and was happily sewing along when I discovered…UGH. Â I had cut the green triangles the WRONG size.
They are suppose to be the size of the black triangle. Â I ended up putting the ruler back on top of the triangle pieces and cutting them smaller.
That was a not so fun task..recutting those stacks of triangles. Â I ended up with a big pile of waste.
I ended up having to order more of the fabric so that I had enough.  Now the triangles aren’t the PERFECT size…close but not perfect.  I am finding myself having to fudge the seams a bit….UGH.  So goes the life of a quilter….
So my official stash report….

…and to see more stash reports, head on over to Patchwork Times.
Sounds like a design opportunity to me. Looking forward to seeing the top come together.
Glad to know I’m not alone in my cutting errors. ;) And, actually in my too-busy life getting in the way of sewing time too. Here’s to more sewing time and always accurate cutting!
I have plenty of time to sew, being retired.
However, there are times I become anxious for some reason as a quilt is coming together. It’s like a little panic attack. I need to leave the sewing room for a few hours and distract myself another way. After the feeling has passed, I pick up where I left off and work on my project again.
Does this happen to anyone else?
I keep seeing these fantastic stash reports. I don’t have that kind of stash to giveaway, or get rid of. But I do want to buy fabric.. all the time. I think a new idea would be a UFO reward system. For each UFO you finish.. you can reward yourself ____. Wouldn’t that be FUN! I just have to think up something fun.. any ideas?
Yes Fran….that does happen to me. If I ‘think’ I made a wrong cut or mistake I get those awful feelings….I have to walk away and when I go back with a clear head it doesn’t seem so bad. Also….maybe those slivers of cut off pieces could be used as ‘stuffing’….now not in your bird for Thanksgiving but maybe a pincushion or dog bed….lol
The fabric is just luscious! Can’t wait to see what you’ve made with it.
when I do that I just sew them as is and resize later. glad to see you are doing orca bay too. you can keep me motivated- lol
