Sunday Stash Report

Hey it’s Sunday again and I have nothing on the fabric in and out front to report….no yardage in….no yardage out.

I did win a pattern, book and charm pack from Inchworm Fabrics when they sponsored a giveaway at Sew Cal Gal’s Pets on Quilts Parade.  Thanks so much girls.

I know..technically I could report the charm pack but I never bother with them.

After reading Judy from Patchwork Times’ blog post about challenging herself to use up massive amounts of yardage before the year is out to downsize her stash, I got thinking about what my goal for the rest of the year should be…

Honestly….From most standards, I don’t have a HUGE stash of fabric.  Of course my non-sewing friends would totally disagree…but if you sew at all, and if you love scrap quilts, you know that a person needs an amount and variety of fabric to make a good quilt.  I have that.  A good amount.

I do however have LOTS of quilts cut out that need attention.

What a mess!!

I don’t even remember what’s in these boxes….

…and stack #3.

You can see I have some work to do..(well actually lots of playing to do).

So I am making a goal.  So far this year I have 20 project listed on my finished quilts page. (You can see them here).  My goal is to add 10 more finished projects by the end of the year.  I know that is a STEEP goal but with gardening coming to a close, I am going to give it the biggest try possible.

If you haven’t been here last week, take a minute to check out the upcoming Crumb a Long, quilt a long information.  Remember to stop back on Tuesday.  I will be posting out the first information on it.

But back to my stash report….…here’s my official numbers.

Used this Week:   0

Used year to Date:   167.5  yards

Added this Week:     0
Added Year to Date:    142 yards

Gifted:  76 yards

Net Used for 2011:  25.5 Yards of store bought fabric…9.5 yards of recycled fabric….76 yards gifted.

…and to see more stash reports, head on over to Patchwork Times.

  1. Nothing in and nothing out is still a good report. Good luck on reaching your goal of getting another 10 quilts done. When you do count your fabric as used, when you make the block (that’s what I do) or when you finish the project?

  2. I’m also trying to get some of the boxed projects to at least a flimsie stage. If I can get some of those done, then maybe next year will be the year of actually quilting them!

  3. I had to laugh when I saw your stacks of projects. It eminded me of my sewing room at the beginning of the year. Now I can see a little more wall, but I still have a ways to go.

    Great job finishing quilts!

  4. I stopped keeping track of the fabric I have…it was too overwhelming. BUT I am concentrating on using up my scraps and finishing UFOs as the year comes to a close
