Yesterday I had a free afternoon so I decided to put a flimsy on my quilt machine. Â I had quite a few on the pile…one had a back prepared…the rest didn’t. Â I grabbed the one with the prepared back. Â It was my Cotton Candy Squares quilt from Judy Laquidara’s book Weekend Quilts. Â I really love the book. Â It has lots of quilts that are easy to make in a short period of time.
I did a bit of color modification to the pattern as mine is TOTALLY SCRAPPY!!  I started it after I made my Crab Apples Quilt from Bonnie Hunter’s Adventures with Leaders & Enders: Make More Quilts in Less Time!.  I had made too many nine patches and needed somewhere for them to go.  This quilt was a perfect home for them.  The other thing that I did to change the pattern was to put dark squares in the middle of each block.
The quilt put a HUGE dent in my 1.5″ scrap bucket. Â I love quilts that bloom from my scrap bucket. Â It just seams like the quilts were a free bee….
The back of the quilt is this brown that I had gotten off a clearance rack for $2.99 a yard.
For a quilting design I just free handed some swirls…nothing fancy.
The quilt doesn’t have a home yet. Â For now it’s going to sit in my potential giveaway pile….I don’t know….I really like it though. Â Time will tell. Â It does look pretty good on my chair. Â I do want to apologize for the photos. Â They just don’t show the deep pretty colors of the fabric.
So the official stash report is…
Used this Week: Â Â 10.5 yards
Used year to Date: Â 107 Â yards
Added this Week: Â Â 0 yards
Added Year to Date: Â Â 35 yards
Net Used for 2011:Â Â 72 Yards
Before you go, please note, I have a giveaway going on…. and you can catch more stash reports by going over to Patchwork Times.
Wow – what a great quilt! And the fact that is from stash makes it all the better! I may have to get that book o:)
Love the quilt. Scrappy quilts are so much fun. Bonnie Hunter’s leaders and enders approache to scrap quilts does make it seem like you are getting a quilt for free!
Very pretty quilt. I love your adjustments.
That is one beautiful quilt, I love it! It’s one I couldn’t part with.
Jo-once again, just a beautiful quilt! Where’s Gracie?
Geez! Another beauty from you. I adore all of your scrap quilts. I guess I had better look into getting this book too.
I really like that quilt. Great use of scraps too. Don’t feel pressure to give it away if you love it. Especially one that has so much piecing. A non quilter would never appreciate it as much as you do. (the work involved, I mean)
I LOVE the total scrappy look and the fact that it was all scraps makes it better. Good job! Looks like it has found the perfect home.
Stunning!! Love the scrappy look!! Must get this book!
thanks for sharing!

Lovely job Jo!!! Good thing I have the 1.5″ strip die coming to me! I might just have to make this quilt!!
Jo,
This is really nice. I feel like scrap quilts are freebies too.
Very beautiful! I think this is so special because you see all your other projects in this one quilt. It tells a story about all your creations:)
I inherited a box full of small nine patch blocks. What a wonderful way to use them. I will add that to my list of projects to be done some day!!
Great job – love your quilt! And a great stash busting week for you as well. Way to go!
This is one great, scrappy quilt!
Nice finish, Bonnie would be impressed!
