Yesterday I told you about our visit to Cotton Creek Mill Quilt Shop in West Branch Iowa….
When we visited I had been doing so good and not buying much at all and the next thing I knew, I had a bag full. Oh my!
I had picked the orange batiks for my mystery quilt and they were long ago cut into. I also picked this one…just because.
All of the rest of this happened….
and all of that happened because of this. It’s an ABC panel!!! If you’re read the blog for any time, you know I am a sucker for ABC panels.
I think it’s the educator in me.
I love the prints because they are girly but not what I call “pink vomit”. I know that’s not politically correct but I’m not a girly pink girl. I kept thinking if Buck has a girl I want this for the baby quilt. I had no idea what to do with it…but I could come up with something…right?
…and of course they had it in two color ways. Of course I couldn’t decide. Of course I had to get them both….and down the rabbit hole I went.
Can you believe that initially I walked past the display thinking, “Oh pretty colors” and walked on. Oh my.
So…for those of you asking about a baby quilt for the new little grand daughter, it will be out of this fabric. I love it.
I have a strange feeling I’ll have left overs and will likely end up buying a layer cake or something before I’m all finished…looks like my rabbit hole just got larger…but I’m okay with that. I’m going to love this quilt!
What an awesome and unique alphabet panel!
Those darn rabbits! :)
Ha! I think we have all been “down the Rabbit Hole” more than once. I also love ABC panels and they make such fun quilts to give no matter the sex of the baby. I cant wait to see your creative creation. I love the purple batik that you picked up, I’m using them more and more with my civil war prints. What a fun trip.
