I was a busy girl….See! The quilt for the firemen’s benefit is FINISHED!! The overwhelming response for my plea for help was…no border, red binding!!
I am so happy. This was not a quilt I was ambitious to work on. Here’s the back. I used up as much fabric as I could but I am afraid I could still make another baby quilt from the fabric….so back to the cupboard it goes.
Hubby wasn’t crazy about the back but both of the prints match the front and both of the pieces are the same print, just different colors. I used up the remaining checker board pieces in the back so they wouldn’t sit around here.
I do have to tell you….some of you missed your opportunity to tell me I have twisted a row in the checkerboard. Friday I showed a picture of the quilt and asked for advice. Melanie was the only one who caught the boo-boo…I caught it as I was pressing the piece….UGH. I had to rip out a whole row of the checkerboard…both sides. I am so happy it’s done!!
There’s nothing fancy about the quilting, just some loops and swirls….If you want to know about the pattern information, you can find that here.
If you live locally around here you can see the quilt live and in person at the Waucoma Firemen’s Breakfast on Sunday, March 4th. Raffle tickets are $1 each. I’ll be at the door taking tickets. Hope to see you!!

Love the new font, so crisp and clean!!
Fabulous quilt Jo! It looks great with no borders and red binding :o)
Great job Jo! The quilt turned out fabulous, and I am sure it will do very well at auction. Looks like you have a lot on your plate this week – good luck!
It looks great! I understand the ‘not ambitious to work on’…I’m in the middle of one of those so you have inspired me to just soldier on…all the blocks are done and just sitting there while I peruse the web and look longingly at the blogs. TODAY is the day!
Someone’s going to be very lucky to win such a cute quilt! Hope it brings in a nice amount for the firemen.
Hi there, I was wondering what size your churn dash blocks are and what size did you make your checkerboard block borders. I love the look of your quilt and want to mimic yours. I have blocks from a swap that are waiting to be used, but I couldnt decide how to put them together. This is perfect. Thanks!!
