I did get some more fabric but it wasn’t even here long enough for me to snap a picture of it before I cut into it. Â I had bought the fabric and quickly sewed it into this. Â Some also went in the baby quilt I made for my niece that I forgot to take a picture of.
The fabric was the perfect color and I am almost tempted to go get some more of it in case I make another quilt with upcycled shirts. Â In case you’re wondering the fabric is Hollyhock Cottage by Lynette Anderson by Lecien. Â Material Magic in New Hampton, Iowa has more of the fabric. Â You can read more about the quilt here.
Used this Week: Â 6 yards store bought
Used year to Date:  187 yards store bought +  48.5 Moda fabric + 62.5 yards of recycled fabric…

Today I am thankful for daughter Kalissa. Â Yesterday I told you about the great relationship I had with my Mom. Â My relationship with Kalissa is much the same only this time around, I’m the mom. Â I spoil her just a little bit too much but she spoils me back so it’s all okay. Â She is at college 17 miles down the road but this came in the mail for me about three weeks ago.
It reads: Â “Hey mama! Â I know you’ve been kinda stressed about the house and quilting deadlines and conferences and money and I know all of that is even worse when Dad is in the combine. Â I found this little turtle when Craig and I went on our mini vacation and it reminded me of you. Â You’ve always taught me that God is in control, that I just have to have a little faith so I bought you this little turtle so that you can be reminded of that: Â God is in control, you’ve just gotta have a little faith. Â Love you lots-Kalissa Kramer”
At the time it was just the reminder I needed. Â We had gotten the bid back on the house and it was way over what we expected. Â We didn’t have a plan of how to work around that and I was a little stressed-but she was there when I needed her…just like she always is. Â She’s a great kid and oh my, she’ll make one heck of a good nurse as she obvious has some great caretaker skills.
The turtle is by my computer desk and will stay there as long as I have a computer desk. Â It’s special to me not just as the reminder that God is in control but also as a reminder that I have a great daughter who will watch out for me.
Today I am thankful for my daughter Kalissa.
I am thankful for you and your reminder to me that God is in control ! Bless you.
What a sweet thing for a girl to do for her mom,I have a few odd items that I keep near my computer at work that mean a great deal to me. I have a Wienie Whistle, two round rocks, a cheap ceramic Buddha and a cute little plate. No one has asked me about my odd collection of treasures but they all remind me of special loved ones and good times.
That is a wonderful story. Thank you for sharing! ~Melanie
What a wonderful thing for your daughter to express to her mother. You did a great job of bringing up a responsible and caring daughter. God bless you and her.
Great letter, great daughter!
It takes a lot of hard work to raise such great kids, but you and your husband have done a wonderful job!
