Stash Report

It’s been a busy weekend with the quilting machine.  I quilted two full size quilts and a baby quilt.  I love my APQS Millie.  She is a work horse and plays nice.  How can you beat that??

This baby quilt is actually Kelli’s project.  She is not really fond of machine quilting plus the machine is at my house so it’s hard for her to find the time to do her own quilts.

Kelli and I both love this quilt pattern for something quick and easy.  It is an Atkinson Design pattern called Slide Show.  You can find the pattern here.  Kelli just modified it to make it baby sized.  It is especially good for panel type quilts to fussy cut the centers.

Here is a link to another full sized quilt I made using the pattern.

I wasn’t sure what quilting design to use.  I have been trying to get out of the stipple rut.  I ended up playing on the white board and did a square type design.

I used this quilting design a couple years ago on a different baby quilt that you can see here.  I love the design.  Someone asked yesterday if I had any tips to not get backed in the corner when doing this design.  Honestly I didn’t have any trouble with that.  I highly suggest playing around on a white board.  I think it really helps.

Baby quilt are perfect for trying new quilting designs on.

On the top I used a green variagated thread…on the back a yellow.

I used a bigger stitch length on this.

I was so nice to Kelli and not only did I quilt the quilt….I even bound it.

Quilting and binding her quilt…that should make me mother of the year right??  Maybe not.

Here’s my stash report.  I bought fabric for the backing of my Easy Street quilt.  I put that on the frame late last night so hopefully by Friday I will have that all finished and ready to show you.

I did have a finished quilt…my Pineapple Blossom.  If you missed that you can see that here.  There is also a fat quarter bundle fabric giveaway going on that is here.

Here are my numbers…

Used this Week:   10 yards

Used year to Date:  24 yards  +  13.5 Moda fabric + 0 yards of recycled fabric…

  1. Hey Jo, The squares all-over pattern is a great alternative to the standard stipple and compliments that top very well! I like the idea of a white board to practice on. I use butcher paper and a pencil. That way I can keep the patterns I like as reminders but for quick practice your method is more eco friendly, I’m going to try that, thanks! Cheer, Claire W.

  2. That is absolutely the cutest quilt. I have to make one with International Harvestor/Farmall tractors in fact I have to make two. One for Dad and one for his son. I hope they turn out as cute as yours did.

  3. Ok momma of the year, I love it. Bought a lot of John Deere fabric for a quilt and think I will change it to your pattern which I also have. Could you please tell me where you got the John Deere design, love it also, it’s so cute. The whole quilt and design you did is just perfect I really went bonkers over it. Silly I know, but oh well.,thanks for your blog it’s the best.
