Kalissa and I were out one day. It’s been kind of fun that she’s been on maternity leave. We have so much more time together. I’m getting spoiled. I’m going to miss this once she’s back to work full time.
We, of course, hit up the thrift store. See that HUGE comforter plastic bag. It was filled with fabric all of $6.
I was sure I would donate a lot it to community quilters in my area but here were a few things I was interested. Stay tuned and I’ll show you what….
These two pieces weren’t part of the $6 bag. They were 50 cents each…3 yards in the bundle on the left and 5 yards on the one on the right. GREAT deal.
I got a few other things….blank cards to write thank you notes. As of the writing of this post, I am all caught up on my thank yous. I’m out of blank card though. I buy and use a lot of them.
The cookbook will go in the antique booth and the straw trivet will go to Kayla. She started collecting them.
So now for that HUGE bag of fabric….These I am keeping to frame cross stitch pieces…
The yellow pieces are 3 yards worth. The others are about 1/2 yard each.
I’ve started collecting for MacKinac Straits quilt by Bonnie Hunter. I haven’t nailed down colors but these have potential.
This fabric was fun and funky. I love it…
I’m thinking about making a stitching project bag with these….we’ll see.
I’m keeping this flannel…I have a flannel tutorial project I am going to share with you soon.
LOOK. Here is what got me to purchase the $6 bag of fabric….The CALICOS. I am going to make a calico quilt sometime…I keep collecting. I have enough to start deciding on a pattern but haven’t had the time to find a pattern yet. I can’t wait. I think it will be so fun.
There were 2 yards in the bundle on the left!
Below is all of the fabric that I passed on. This will all be given to local group that make quilts for people in our community that have needs.
I sure had fun sorting and digging through that big bag. I’d say I ended up keeping about 1/3 of the fabric.
It was a good thrift store day!
WOW
Great find! You come across the best deals!
I also like having blank cards for thank you notes. I often order them from shutterfly when they have a special. Since I have plenty of cards now, I ordered a set and had it sent to you. Some have photos of quilts on them and some have other random photos I’ve taken. I hope you enjoy them! Wanted you to know so that when you get a random package from shutterfly you know it’s intended for you!
Aw…this is so sweet. I can’t wait to see them!!
I never see anything like that at our thrifts! You are fortunate indeed.
I have a lot of calico and can’t wait to see what you decide to do with yours!!
This post sounds like the old Jo! Back to a little normalcy with some Kalissa for added fun. I pray your life is getting more normal or at least settling into a new normal. I am working on the Little House Works Christmas cross stitch project. It is fun but it is worked on between other projects. If I remember I should pass this pattern to you when I am done. My sister-in-law is making a cross stitch quilt for her son and needs enough blocks for a California kingsize quilt! She has asked me and my sisters for help. The colors and pattern is not my “thing” so it is a slow go. I reward myself by working on 1 block then do something that I want to do.
I would LOVE it when you’re finished!! It is hard to work on anything that “isn’t your thing”!!
Good find! The thrift stores in your area have better finds than the ones by me!! Road trip???!!!
great find, I love it when you post what you find at the thrift store, makes me want to go shopping at the thrift store..keep it up…
Hope all is well with the family and all…
take care

I can’t believe the deals you find. How is Gannon? Poor little guy.
If I’m not mistaken that is the same flannel my mom used to me me a full length nightgown! One Christmas mom made all four ladies gowns and the men velour robes. Can’t say that all the hubbies were thrilled with their wives wearing to the floor flannel, but all loved those robes. Boy do I miss those handmade gifts from mom.
