Stash Report

I hit my favorite thrift store again….

The fabric selection wasn’t what it was a couple weeks ago when I really scored but that’s okay….as I always tell you, I don’t NEED fabric.  I did pick up a few pieces though.

These are only 50 cents each so they are super hard for me to resist.  The top two (floral and polka dot) are actually corduroy.  They are SUPER soft-not like the stuff I remember as a kid.  The rows are really close and narrow too.  I have a collection of corduroy fabrics that I really want to make into a quilt someday.  These are going in the collection.

The orangish fabric on the lower left is really a bit more orange that it looks….I don’t have many orange fabrics at all so this was a good one to get….the strawberry fabric is enough to back a baby quilt.  Each of the pieces are over a yard….See why it’s so hard for me not to buy them at 50 cents each???

My favorite find of the day was this….It’s a 100% cotton duvet cover.  I love the colors and prints of it.  It doesn’t feel like it’s been washed lots of time either.  It was $5.  It is big enough to use for at least two quilt backings.

Some people poo-poo using sheets or fabrics like this for quilt backings but me, I have no problem with it.  My machine doesn’t act up with this…and neither does my thread.  So it’s a win for me!

I’m off to do some sewing.  With what fabric I’ve bought lately I REALLY need to sew so I can use some of it up!!

  1. I think making a quilt from corduroy would be a fun idea. Any fabric for that price should be bought up. The berries are super cute

  2. Love the blue duvet cover-I had a friend who loved a set of sheets she had, so she trimmed off the frayed edge/hem and I quilted them for her. She is excited to have her favorite sheets last a bit longer. I have not bought fabric since the Iowa trip, but that is ok, because I bought more than I should have. . .

  3. The blue duvet cover is great! Such beautiful colors. It reminds me of planets and stars in the night sky, for some reason. I always go through the the bedding department when thrifting too. Since there is only Goodwill, Salvation Army, Value Village and St. Vinnie’s here, it is rare that I find any fabric for sale, but once in a while, I do score a find. I recently found some really nice large pieces of a magenta and pink blender-type fabric that I think probably was used for custom-type curtains in a girl’s room. Some of it is going into some really cute pincushions I plan to make soon. I was going to initially use it in En Provence but it wasn’t just the right shade of magenta,
