I was looking through pictures on my phone and realized that I completely forgot to put this picture in a previous blog post and tell you about the fabric I purchased at the time.
Remember not too long ago I took a road trip and went to visit Ila and my niece. Â I had stopped at the Quiltmaker’s Shoppe in Manchester, Iowa. Â Well these are my purchases…
Funny thing is..I already cut into a lot of the fabric. Â That’s how I like to buy quilt shop fabric. Â I like to have a plan for it and start using it right away….scrap fabric that comes in or that I get via thrifting..I’m not picky about when that gets used.
I was busy cutting out Winston Ways and needed the black for the star blocks. Â I even bought some fabric for binding the quilt..the black diagonal stripe is for the that. Â I love diagonal stripes for binding. Â I have all that cut up and ready to go. Â Now I just need machine time.
I bought a big chunk of black too. Â I thought about using it as backing. It was on the clearance rack at just $6 a yard. Â That’s hard to say no to…especially when I have quilts that need backings. Â I’m not sure this one will go on Winston Ways but it will get used.
The pile of fat quarters…well, I have a wedding quilt in mind. Â Right now not much of it has been cut. Â I need to get on that though….time is ticking and the wedding is getting really close.
The little “pattern” in the front….that’s a row by row quilt pack. Â The row from the Quiltmaker’s Shoppe features a bee hive with bees buttons. Â My friend Michelle that blogs over at Michelle’s Romantic Tangle is doing the row by row quilts and she and her husband have bees….Perfect for her.
Happily I haven’t caved to the row by row pressure. Â Some things I am glad I can avoid and say no to. Â I collect so many other things. Â Goodness knows I don’t need another collection.
So that’s what I bought…

If you want some cute bee blocks, look at Splendid Sampler with Pat Sloan. It has a new free block every Sunday and Thursday. Today it had a paper pieced bee and a few weeks ago there was a different project with a bee.
