I am just popping in quick with a stash report and looking for a bit of advice…
After I wrote on the blog a couple weeks ago that Kelli and I were interested in making some charity quilts, I have gotten an overwhelming response from people who are interested in coming to sew with us, people wanting to send fabric or quilt tops. Â It’s been really great and fun getting packages in the mail.
Check out this GREAT quilt that came from Cindi. Â The top came quilted with the binding fabric included!! Â All I did was bind the quilt. Â What a generous donation!!
..and am amazing gift for someone in need.  The quilt is going to be packaged up with the quilt that Kelli and I had finished and sent off to the fire victims.  I am sending the quilts to Julie at Having Fun Quilting.
Cindi also sent TWO more quilt tops. Â I will show them as I get them quilted. Â I can’t say enough how much I appreciate the help and beautiful quilts.
This box of goodies came from Ila who I swear is like my adopted aunt….she is always blessing me and my girls with goodies.
I love the Shrek fabric…there’s other goodies in there too! Â I am thinking I need to work on some quick but cute designs for donation quilts….quilts with bigger pieces yet not too big so the quilts can come together quickly.
I do have a problem though. Â How do I count donated fabric that will be going out in donated quilts? Â I don’t put the fabric in with my regular fabric so I just don’t know.
For now, am keeping it in one box. Â I think I just won’t count donation fabric either way…not in …not out. Â Does that sound like a fair plan??
I have been really busy last week, mostly on vacation. Â I have gotten behind on blog things. Â SORRY!! Â I’ll try to get caught up this week….
That’s makes my stash report look like this….
Used this Week: Â 7 Â yards
Used year to Date: Â 65 Â yards
Added this Week: Â 32 yards
Added Year to Date: Â Â 83 yards (25 from Moda)
Net Used for 2012:  -18 Yards of store bought fabric…19 yards of recycled fabric…

Don’t count it, it doesn’t count!
I agree with not counting it. There is so much satisifaction from making quilts for those in need. Thanks , how do I send you some quilts or maybe just tops?
Don’t count it. I have fabrics and tops that were donated to me for Quilts of Valor, and since they are separate from my regular stash, I don’t count it either.
Don’t count it. The fabric is just placed in your stewardship long enough for the charity quilt to come together. You are a sweetheart for all the work you are doing on the charity quilts.
I wouldn’t count it either. This is only counted on your good deed “register”.
It makes perfect sense to me. It has a specific purpose and will be used for that purpose, so no need to mix it up with your regular fabric counts.
I agree with the others. I receive a few donations of tops or fabric for Quilts of Valor and I keep it separate and it doesn’t get included in my stash. Now if I have to take something from my stash to finish one, say a pillowcase, backing or binding, then I do count that as used because it came from my original stash.
