The mail man came and so did an awesome box of fabric and goodies.
MJ in Michigan was thinking of me as she was cutting up fabric for a quilt. Â I had said I have a new love of neutral (or light colored) fabric. Â I really do. Â Often the lights are the unsung heroes in a scrappy quilt. Â I have been stepping back and appreciating neutrals in a whole new light. Â MJ seems to think they are dated fabrics but I love them….they don’t seem dated at all to me.
I believe it was Bonnie Hunter who said-fabric doesn’t have an expiration date. Â It’s a statement I have truly learned to adhere to. Â My Garden Party quilt even has some of those old 80’s country blue prints…and mixed in, no one would notice.
MJ also threw two rotating rotary cutting mats. Â I squealed over those. Â I had just been telling Kelli that I wanted a small cutting mat downstairs in the laundry room for when I am trimming blocks. Â This will be perfect. Â I took the green one and my daughter Kayla who was home for a visit squealed over the tan one. Â Kelli already has one….
I LOVE the mats and LOVE the fabric. Â I’ve already been using the mat. Â I have to say I sure am happy to have a mat…and the fabric, I can’t wait to start cutting in and making a project.

I’m with you on the neutrals; a scrappy quilter can’t have too many of them. I was at a fat quarter sale about a week ago and neutrals was all I bought.
I’m so glad the box arrived and you like the contents. I knew you would be able to use the mats. I LOVE neutrals but the ones I was cutting are from my deep stash, 1980s and 90s. When I look at them I remember all of the old projects I used them in which makes them seem dated to me. They will be cut up into my stash users system and will blend right in with my newer fabrics if I don’t use too much of them in any single project. Can’t wait to see what you do with them.
