Stash Report

You might remember back that a couple of my stash reports have come via Diane.  Sadly Diane has been cleaning out her mother’s fabric after she passed away.  What a job?!  I remember going through my parents things and it’s just a hard job…there’s the sentimental things and the “what were thinking things”…There’s the I wish I could keep that things and the things that bring back a flood of memories.  Going through my parents things was hard and such a process.  Luckily I was blessed with good siblings that were really helpful.

As Diane sorted she thought of me.  I appreciate it lots.  It seems it was time to sort through the pinks…as there are LOTS of pinks.  I love it.

I opened the box when the childcare kiddos were here and they all were in love with the Cat in the Hat fabric…me I was thinking of the pinks and thinking of making Bonnie Hunter’s Zuckerwatte quilt from her String Fling book. (photo courtesy of Quiltville)  The pinks would be perfect.  This quilt has been one I’ve always thought to make….

Thanks so much for thinking of me Diane.  The fabrics are wonderful.  I hope to honor your mom by making something wonderful with the fabrics.

Today I am hooking up with Patchwork Times.

I’ve always wanted to make the Zuckerwatte quilt too but I don’t have enough pinks in my stash so far. Diane was very kind to share with you. I look forward to seeing your start.

I was fortunate this weekend as I was able to attend Bonnie Hunter’s lecture at the Vermont Quilt Festival. We saw the Zuckerwatte quilt in person. The quilt is gorgeous as were all the other quilts Bonnie shared. Many are on my to do list. All the people who are lucky enough to join you and Bonnie at your event this summer are in for a real treat. Two great quilters at one event.
