Stash Report

Last weekend when we went to Clear Lake, Iowa, for the antique show we also checked out the shops up town.  They have an old mercantile type store called Larsons.  It’s a fun shop and has all sorts of knick knacks, gifts, candy, joke products like whoopee cushions, and way in the back they have fabric.  They have lots of Moda fabrics including precuts and matching fabrics from the fabric lines.  Kelli and I were so excited.

See on the way over to Clear Lake we had been talking about a couple layer cakes we had at home that we were wanting to sew up into free patterns.  As we were traveling an idea struck me for a pattern design.  We talked about it and decided we’d try to work our trip out so that we could stop at a fabric store and get the extra needed yardage.  This isn’t always that easy as the family, Hubby included, gets tired of us always talking about quilts….

Once I remembered that Larson’s had fabric the plotting began.  I finally came up with a plan that we would run in there while Hubby loaded the things we bought.  We had to be quick though….It was hard as neither of us could remember the name of the layer cake we wanted to use so we couldn’t pull the fabric line up on our smart phone.  UGH.

Fabric

I finally took a stab and decided if we were wrong we’d just use the fabric for something else….well good news.  I think we did great.  The layer cake is a last year line from Moda, Stephanie Ryan’s Spring House.  I love the line.  We coupled it with a grunge fabric..and the pink will be the binding.

Sad news though….I started working on this and cut the Grunge (white) fabric wrong.  Thankfully Fat Quarter Shop came to my rescue.  I called and explained the fabric to the gal that was working.  She ended up having to go out on the floor and find it.  There are several Grunge fabrics that all look cream colored.  Mine had a hint of light green mixed in.  I have learned that the color is called Essence (good to know)

Anyway…this will be a free pattern that will be coming your way in the next month or so.  So far, I love it and I think you will too.  The design is quick and easy and can be scrap or jelly roll friendly too.  It will sew together fast so perfect for gift giving…keep watching for the pattern to come out soon.

So that’s about fabric in…on fabric out, I just had fabric for the table runner we featured as a free pattern on Friday.  If you missed that, you can see it here.

So here’s the stash report…

Used this Week:  1 yard

Used year to Date:  23 yards store bought +  91 Moda and gifted fabric + 38 yards of recycled/thrifted fabric…
