Special Delivery

A blog reader contacted me and asked if she could drop off some donations. She was from the Dubuque, Iowa area. Rather than pay postage, she wanted to drop them off at my house. I was totally up for that, but then I thought of my daughter Kayla. She lives near Dubuque and works in a neighboring town. Maybe the reader and Kayla could get together, and Kayla could deliver them to me the next time we saw each other.

That ended up working. Lucky me, I got to look at all the tops!! Oh my. They are wonderful.

First up is this pretty seasonal applique quilt.

Next is this star quilt. Oh my. I love it. It would be a great quilt to donate to our school fundraiser. School colors are red, white, and black. The checkerboard is black.

This is a simple strip quilt, but the colors are fabulous.

Here is a great patriotic quilt. I think this one might go to Ray.

Here is a fun cheater top. I love the soft colors…and look, backing and binding included.

Here is another great quilt. This is made with brushed cotton. So soft.

This Christmas quilt is great. I’m thinking of finishing this one myself and donating it to the Christmas celebration in town with Santa. Hmm… wouldn’t hand-embroidered stems in the leaves look great?

Here is another fun stripe quilt. This one looks Halloweenish.

Here is a table topper or wall hanging.

It’s not quite finished but close. So cute.

There is something I like about these striped quilts. They are simple but satisfying.

Here is another nice cheater quilt top. I like this.

This is another that would work great as a donation for the Christmas Town celebration.

Here’s a striped one with a backing. I love the floral and plaid. It gives me a leather and lace feel.

Check out this one with the big snowflake! How fun.

That’s the end of the quilt tops. Oh my. They all were so nice.

Included in the bags was fabric.

What a treat to have such nice fabrics to work with to finish these quilts.

Many thanks for the amazing donation and to Kayla for saving us all postage. I can’t imagine how much it would have cost to ship all of these goodies. Many-many thanks. So much good can come from this donation.

Those are all spectacular quilts – worthy of their own quilt show – what we just enjoyed by you sharing them with us. Thanks!

Kudos to the wonderfully generous person who dropped off all these wonderful tops at Kayla’s. Credits to you also, Jo, for inspiring the generosity of others.

  3. What nice donations. All beautiful! Great that they were able to save the postage, no telling what it would have cost! I’ve been wanting to make the giant snowflake quilt. I’ve always loved that one.

  4. Wow, the quilts are just wonderful, and very inspiring. The person did a great job on selecting colors and fabrics. What a generous donation.
