Sometimes it’s the little things…

We rarely go out for pizza because I make a pretty awesome homemade pizza.

Pizza

I’ve been working on perfecting pizza for MANY years.  The crust is from my ratio bread recipe that you can find  here.

Today I made bacon cheeseburger.  I fry up some bacon pieces along with hamburger.  I add a combo of ketchup, brown sugar and vinegar to make a BBQ sauce.  Once the dough is rolled out a spread just a bit of BBQ sauce over the crust.  Then I add the meat and then the cheese.  I bake it in a 425 degree oven until golden.

For years…that is where the recipe ended….Not anymore.  Now when the pizza comes out of the oven we spread butter over the crust.  That makes it perfect….sometimes, just little things like butter on the crust really make a good recipe perfect.   Please leave a comment and let us know if there is just a little tip that you have that you could share with us.

  1. I don’t have a tip for you, just wanted to let you know that that pizza looks great. Now I’m hungry for pizza. If I ever get my oven fixed, that might be one of the first things I make. Thanks for sharing.

  2. If you want to try something a bit different, Craftsy has a free class online about perfecting pizza. It’s neat!

  3. I make most of our meals from scratch, too. We’d have to drive 60 miles just to get a pizza! I often add a bit of basil and garlic powder to my dough when I am mixing it up. I also cheat and buy the precooked bacon crumbles that I can buy at Sam’s. Bacon Cheeseburger is one of our favorites!
