September Dirty Dozen Report

I told you that I didn’t finish a Dirty Dozen quilt for August…I’m a little sad about that.  Then I decided to do an assessment of how I’ve done for the year.

This was a #9
It’s a Crooked Courthouse Steps quilt with Mickey in the middle of the blocks.

I jumped this project ahead and pulled this as I needed to finish it for Scotty’s birthday.  It’s done and gifted.

These were started last fall….I have since passed these on to the Cresco ladies to finish up for charity.

They had since completed a top with them…

Here are a couple projects I was putzing with. There are two projects here so I’ll count them a #2 and #3….they are just baby quilts.
I sent one of these on to the Cresco ladies too.

I really don’t care how some of the UFOs get finished, I just want to feel the load lightened.

Scrappy Bargello in Plaids…that got finished.

This got finished…it will soon be a pattern for download on the blog.

Now for Augusts #3s

Hawk’s Nest

The finished quilt looks like this…

HawksNest-5
It’s a Bonnie Hunter pattern.  I’m using up a BUNCH of bonus triangle to make this.  All I really have is bonus triangles…nothing else is started so I wonder if that even counts as a UFO.

I’m doing pretty good considering when I started all I really had was the bonus triangles and I found I really didn’t have all I needed.  At the time I’m writing this I have 27 of the 42 blocks finished.  I have all the rest cut out and started.  I think I’m finally to the point that if I have a couple of afternoons to sew, I could almost have the center finished.

The other #3-I have this wool project…I’d love to get this done.  I have the frame for it already..I just need to finish the inside.

I am going to take this one downstairs and put it in the laundry room.  I think over the course of the month when I have the grandkids and it’s nap time, I can get the pieces adhered to the fabric.  I really would like this finished and I really don’t want to put it back in the cabinet.

Now for the September Dirty Dozen Projects….The number was #11.  I was so hoping it would be something easy like #2.  For that, I have a top that needs to be machine quilted.  I could accomplish that in an afternoon.  Oh well, here are the #11s.

This is a free Quilted Twins pattern.  This is a 100% cotton recycled quilt.  (Find the pattern HERE)

Kelli just made on in all blues…

I love this quilt and I know it would be a really quick sew….but, I think the other UFO is going to get worked on first.

That project is my Quilted Twins Mystery.  This needs to get tackled too.  I have the first blocks done…I need to make the alternate blocks.
Right now this project is sitting out at the end of the ironing board.  I really want to finish it.  I want the sewing room to look neater.  There is no room to store another UFO so it has to get finished.

I love the design.  It was so fun to sew along but once it was revealed, I petered out from mask sewing.  UGH.

So if you’re keeping track, here’s my tally.  I started with 32 projects.  After two months of working on them, I have 5 finished or gone (thanks Cresco ladies).  I have two that are further along and I have two waiting in the wings.

I don’t think that’s too bad….so even though I didn’t finish the August projects, I’m not failing at this Dirty Dozen sewing.  How are you all doing?  Did you join the challenge?

    Failing? Are you kidding?
I’m very happy to be just keeping up with Dirty Dozen and finished two,
Love seeing Scotty’s quilt again! It’s another great scrappy quilt! Enjoy the weekend!

This is the 1st time I have ever partipated in any kind of challenge. I was very late with the August project. But I finally finished Tad the dragon. My number 3 is just a flimsy at this point when I was hoping to have it completely done. But I am much closer so that’s good. September’s project is two Denim skirts. I am hoping to get the backing done for my flimsy and finish the skirts. I am optimistic! I love feeling like a part of such a great group of people!

I don’t do challenges as my sewing days are few and far between but I have several of my own in the making – including having the fabric but not having cut it yet. Or having only a little of the fabric and need to buy the rest. I think I have 6 in my own challenge in various stages! LOL!
    Love and prayers

My tendency is if I start a quilt I finish it, so not to many UFO are hanging around here. I do have a few flimsy that need to be quilted but I send mine out to be done. I do have a few quilt kits that I have purchased (mostly for guild charities) and they could be UFO I guess.
I like the sheep stitchery that you are working on, so cute. I look forward to seeing it done and framed.

Scrappy Bargello in Plaids is already a published pattern in Bonnie Hunter’s first book Scraps and Shirttails.

Joe with everything that’s been going on and you still managed to get 5 things done in two months. Your nickname should be Super Woman. Love the things you’ve gotten done

In your June 20 post you noted the Scrappy Bargello in Plaid was from Scraps and Shirttails I. She also has something similar as a free pattern, I think.
