A couple weeks ago, my daughter Kelli and I went to Waverly, Iowa and visited Moose Patch Quilt Shop. They had an awesome display of quilts that Kelli and I looked and looked at….
Amazingly, every time we looked at the quilt it had a label on it that said it came from the book Scrap Basket Surprises by Kim Brackett. I had seen the book before but it didn’t catch my eye until I saw all the sample quilts…oh, they were beautiful.Â
I found out later that the author Kim Brackett is working on a new book and that she blogs at Magnolia Bay Quilts. Â
All of the quilts are made from 2 1/2″ strips….If you’re a jelly roll fan, this might be a good quilt book to add to your collection.
I haven’t made any quilts from the book yet…but I am eyeing the Pinwheel Quilt shown below…done in Civil War reproduction fabrics.Â
Kelli made the Feed Sacks quilt…which she will be reveiling soon.Â
Kelli’s is even cuter than this one…..
It is so amazing to me how I had seen the book several times previous to this but the book didn’t click with me until I saw all the quilts in person. I make lots of quilts to give away for presents and the quilts in the book are quick and easy yet don’t look it. I can’t wait for her new book!
Hi, Jo! I ran across your blog and was tickled to see the display at Moose Patch Quilt Shop. Thank you so much for sharing the pictures — I really enjoy seeing what others do with the patterns. And I LOVE your blog!
Hi Kim…
I honestly love your book…and have started following your blog too. From your blog I ended up ordering Quiltmaker’s 100 blocks…even there, I love your block best. KUDDOS to you. Keep up the great designing.
