Kelli worked on Friday for the overnight shift, so she needed to sleep on Saturday so she was ready for the Saturday night overnight shift. She asked if Rick and I would watch the kids. We did.
We started by going to Carver’s football game. He’s number 20 with the ball. At flag football age, they have their soft helmets and a mouth guard.

He had a couple of good runs. Their team is so fun to watch.
When we got home, Emmett was excited. I had chain pieced a bunch, and he was cutting the pieces apart. I was working on the border for my Midnight Flight quilt.

Next, Emmett and Georgia played Perler Beads.

Emmett, with my help, made a turtle and a dinosaur.

He cons me into picking out all the beads for him. HA!
I started thinking about a backing for Eli’s quilt. Rosie decided she wanted to lay on the fabric instead. UGH. At least I got far enough to know he wants this print as part of the background. That’s awesome. I can use it up!!

From there I was going to watch the FIBA Women’s Basketball game and stitch…Eli and Georgia wanted to stitch too.

I take a piece of burlap, put it in a frame, use a marker to draw their design, then have them stitch with yarn and a plastic needle.

Emmett ended up doing one too…so I ended up not being able to stitch at all…it’s totally okay.
Rick and Eli snuck off to the kitchen.

Eli wanted Rick’s “Famous French Toast”. Rick does make amazing French Toast…the only difference is:
Instead of milk, use cream
Don’t put the cinnamon in the batter; sprinkle is over the top.
Use Texas Toast

By then, Kelli was awake, and we all scrambled to get the kids fed and out the door so Kelli could get to work on time. It was a fun day with the kiddos.

Looks like a fun day for everyone! You and Rick are great grandparents.
I’m so glad you’ve started the kids sewing young. I first learned to sew with a plastic needle back in the day, quickly moved on to the “real stuff” (never going to build up those calluses if you don’t get your fingers pricked lol), and haven’t stopped since. Hopefully this will be a lifetime hobby for some of them too!
These are the kind of days that create strong memories. Grandparents are so important. They are so lucky to have you and Rick there for them.
A fun grandma and Rick day. I think seeing Carver play football would be pretty fun. I have seen that age play soccer and it was a hoot. You are so patient teaching little ones to sew or helping them with perler beads. Great day for all.
Your grandchildren are such beautiful children. I’m glad you are happy. I make a delicious French toast too. I use leftover French bread and add flour, sugar and vanilla. It’s delicious and because there’s only 2 of us, we get extras for a few days.
I would say that everyone had a perfect day together building memories.
