If you remember, Rick and I were looking for a pool table for the garage. We kind of put that off until Rick got settled in here. Then we decided to have a garage sale and again put looking for a pool table off. Well, the garage sale is this weekend, and Rick couldn’t resist the temptation to look for one.
He saw one on Thursday that kind of caught his eye. He liked it, but didn’t say anything. He knows we’re concentrating on the garage sale….and we had made a pact to put it off until after the garage sale. Well, Friday he got a notification that the sellers had knocked the price down in half. He couldn’t resist and showed it to me.
It didn’t look bad.
It came with quite a few accessories.
Hmm. Rick started to do some investigation. This was a good brand in its day until the company burned down. After some hee-hawing back and forth, we decided to contact the sellers.
We made an appointment to come and look at it on Saturday. Unless something was wrong or there was something we didn’t like, we kind of planned on buying it. The price was low. We have to hire a company to move, reset, and level it. They are from Cedar Rapids, Iowa. It was the closest one we could get. They charge $2.50 per mile on top of setup fees. This table was in Vinton, Iowa, so it was right between our house and the seller’s house. That would cut down on the mileage costs.
We headed south on Saturday morning. We added time to stop at the Amish bakery. YUM!! Pizza buns. I just love them.
We needed a bathroom break, so we filled the gas tank up too.
Finally, after some very slow traffic, we got to the seller’s house. We liked the table and bought it. We gave them the money. We took the pool cues, balls, and rack home. He would keep the table until we could get movers to his house. The only problem…would we find movers who could move it in his time table. We needed to have it moved by August 15th at the latest.
Rick had driven to the seller’s house. I ended up driving home. On the way, Rick manned his phone. He was contacting the movers and trying to get everything set up.
It turns out the moving company had contacted the seller after we did. They were going to buy the table and refinish it, then sell it in their showroom. We ended up beating them to it. HA!!
They do have time to move the table. On August 6th, it will be delivered and set up here at our house. I’m so excited.
After the sale, we have to hurry and clean up the garage sale leftovers and get things in place for it to be delivered. Yahoo…we jumped a few days ahead of our plan to wait until after the garage sale was over, but that’s okay. By the time it’s delivered, the sale will be over. I can’t wait to shoot our first game!!

Take all your garage leftovers to a thrift store so your table will have room. I knew you’d find one cheap. They are for sale all the time. Now you give lessons to the littles.

When we bought our current home in 2017, my husband insisted that the pool table the sellers had in the basement be part of the purchase agreement. The table got used for maybe 2 years. My husband regrets the decision as it would be/will be an absolute bear to get out of the basement when we move. We will probably say in our listing that the pool table stays with the house! In the mean time he covered it with a thick plywood table top and I use it as a cutting table and pressing station for my quilting. If now gets used every day

This is so exciting and for such a good deal (well, I haven’t seen the bill from the moving company, but I’m sure even with that it’s still a good deal). I had no idea you had to have a pool table set up professionally/leveled, but it certainly makes a lot of sense. Thank you for the new information!
