Kelli has been a HUGE kick to make LOTS of quilts made with recycled shirts.
She has tapped into her thrifty sewing self mode. She’s on a mission to cut out about 5 quilts. If you’ve ever worked with recycled shirts, you know it’s messy. She has the mess going on now and doesn’t want the mess again for awhile so she’s on the hunt for patterns. She has enough shirts..just wants some pattern ideas.

Kelli has been through both of Bonnie Hunter’s books that feature shirt quilts and has picked a couple of those.

I’ve encouraged her to check out Quilted Twins and their free patterns. Right now, this one is on her to-do list. (I have this one cut out and ready to sew)

The quilt she found that she REALLY loves is this. We’ve looked and looked for a pattern for this and can’t find it. Does anyone know if there is a pattern available?
So, Kelli is hoping you all might have a few ideas or links to more patterns for quilts made from shirts. Please share them in the comment section. She really wants to cut out several quilts while she has the mess all out.
My favourite shirt quilt is Bonnie’s Moth in a Window pattern. Love that kaleidoscope quilt – probably doesn’t have a pattern, but check out kaleidoscope tutorials or one-block wonders.

I’ve seen several quilts similar to that called One Block Wonder or Kalidascope Quilts. If you search on Pinterest there are all kinds of patterns that use just one piece of fabric that you cut into triangles where it repeats. I bet that is a similar pattern just using different shirts for each hexagon.

The hexie does look like a one block wonder quilt, the kind where you sew Hal hexies into strips, then sew them together.
Thank you for the Quilted Twins site a little while ago. I’ve now cut out, from old shirts of course, pieces for one of her quilts using the shirt pockets as block centers.

Love your collection of suggestions! I’m on a shirt frenzy myself and have a constant mess with a stack of shirts on my couch. I love that last quilt with the hexies. I would consider it a one block wonder but the Facebook group deleted it from their page saying it wasn’t one. Technically I suppose it’s not but what a fabulous use of fabric and color! If you find a pattern please share with us.

All People Quilt had a free Mad About Plaids quilt that was very simple and fun to do out of flannel.
I really like the one with the dark chains over the very pale shirtings. A fresh look.
Plaid Obsession by Evelyn Sloppy is similar to the QT pattern but made with string blocks, always loved this quilt. Also have made Chunky Churn Dash, B Hunter free pattern with plaids. Have fun.

I think that last quilt is just a lot of hexagons cut from stripes, arranged attractively and sewn together. I love the OBW site on facebook but sometimes they get a little picky about what to include and can be included on the site. Carol
Yes, the last one is definitely a One Block Wonder (OBW). Not so easy to do with shirts … you have to stack 6 layers of fabric with the exact same stripes or pattern in the same position, then cut 6 layers of 60 ° triangles.
I saw this pattern too somewhere and am going to try it some time. go on the OBW site to learn the easy way to assemble these he use.
I made a full size memory quilt from men’s shirts using Bonnie Hunter/Free patterns/Scrappy Mointain Majesty. I used a khaki color solid fabric background fabric along with the shirts.

I’ve made the seven shirts quilt – well, okay it’s not done yet, but I’m working on it. It’s adorable. I really like the looks of it and I think Kelli will like it, too. I like all the things you share with us. There’s always something new to learn.
Here’s the quilt you like. It’s a pattern called “Second Career.” Now, if you can just find that magazine from 2014!! (A helpful hint: I have a Samsung Galaxy S8 and just right clicked on the picture of the quilt and it did a Google search for me to find it! Not sure what other smart phones may have this feature available).

The Quilt Kelli loves is a hexagon pieced from 6 identical 60 degree triangles using a different shirt to cut each matching set of six. All she needs to do is decide what size triangle she wants to use and she’s good to go. I would suggest either 4/12 or 5 inches to get a decent size hexagon.

I love the last one, One Block Wonder, it looks like. I made one from a series of videos on YouTube. I like how it’s bordered with the stripes inside the binding. Hi all I go to good will every Sunday for dollar day and get as many shirts as I can I have done several quilt with them I did Missouri Star big star quilt from the app I did one in white and blue from all blue shirt s I do like the hexi one I went to day and got shirts with bright colors in mind.another good place to get shirts is our local church they have a 5$ bag sale I have gotten 100 shirts for $10 it’s fun seeing all the fabric folded nice and the mess cleaned up then the sky the limit.
