Quilts for West Texas-Part 3

I have been working like a mad women on getting these quilts done!

Here is the latest installment.

This one is from Susan.  She said she made the top 18 years ago and was actually the first quilt she pieced.  (The piecing is amazing-my first quilt was nothing like this!!)

Quilt-6

I quilted it with a floral stipple pattern from Pajama Quilter.

Quilt-6-1
The quilt is so nice and well pieced.  Honestly, I can’t believe it’s her first quilt.

Next up is a quilt from Mary Silver.  You can check out Mary’s blog here.  This quilt Mary actually got from ebay.  It was a situation where she bid on it just putting in a low bid and she won it.

Quilt-7
It is combination alphabet quilt and crumb quilt.  I would so love to make one.

See…here is the letter “H”.  The blocks that follow it have Halloween, a hippo and horse.  In the row below are “J”, jelly bean, jet and John Deere.

Quilt-7-1
I really do want to make one of these!!  I just might write all the letters and objects down before I pass it along.  Would any of you be interested in a list??

I used a free motion quilting design again from Pajama Quilter.  I don’t remember the name..something with star and space.

Quilt-7-3

That’s two more finished….watch from more West, Texas quilts to come.

  1. These are all turning out so beautifully! You are working so hard and I know the people of West will be thrilled! Thanks for doing this!

  2. It looks gorgeous quilted Jo. I’m so glad I sent it to you. I knew you would get a kick out of the crumbyness of it,but a well thought out, planned crumbs. And what a variety of fabrics.

  3. Both quilts are so lovely! What a great idea to combine the alphabet with objects beginning with each letter (would make a fab literacy activity for preschoolers/first graders!) – must mention it to a few of the teachers at school!

  4. You did a great job in giving life to my quilt. You did a wonderful job! Thanks, too, for you kind comments. The alphabet quilt is so cool. Would love to make one someday. I’d appreciate the having the list too! Have to plan ahead for those grandbabies!

  5. Wonderful quilting on great quilts! Such a generous thing to make and give. Lots of interesting designs… Would love a list for the ISpy one-want to make some for Project Linus.
