Quiltmaker’s 10,000 BLOCKS!!

Welcome old and new readers….If you’re new you might not know about our many free patterns that you can find along the right hand column or you might not know about our never ending house remodel…of you might not know that we have our own quilt book coming out in February of 2015.  There is always lots going on here and we’re always sharing.  To stay up to date follow us in Facebook….enough of that though, onto the blog hop.

Have you been hopping around blog land taking part in Quiltmaker’s 10,000 Block Blog Hop???  Well it’s actually the 100 Block blog hop but being this is volume 10…and there’s a 100 blocks in each issue, that makes it 10,000 BLOCKS!!

QMMS 140050 cover 500 Quiltmakers 100 Blocks Blog Tour: Day 2
Kelli and I are so honored to be part of the fun.  This is our 4th issue that we’ve been featured in. Quite often we do a patriotic block but this time Kelli won out and the block isn’t patriotic.

QMMS-140050-KRAMER (2)

I was playing around on the computer and came up with the idea of this block.  Kelli loved it but then she asked what size the pieces were –  I just shrugged and said you can figure that out, right?!?!

Let’s just say she shot me a not too happy face….but she’s a trouper and before long, she had it all figured out.

In the meantime I played on the computer some more and putting blocks together and came up with this design.

brokenDishes

The crew at Quiltmaker came up with another design that we like too.  The set their design on point.

We ended up making our quilt only adding more blocks and making it bigger.  We used some really fun fabric from Moda.  It was a Halloween line, Eerie by Basic Grey.

MonsterMash

I can’t wait to show it to you live and in person.  It’s really fun.  I quilted big whimsical spiders in the quilting design.  We won’t get this one back until spring so you’ll have to wait to see it then.

You’ll likely want to take a moment to hop over to Quiltmaker’s Quilty Pleasures blog.  Each day of the hop they are giving away wonderful goodies, quilt books, fabric, notions and the like.

We love working with Quiltmaker and were very honored to be asked to be part of this issue.

But before you go Quiltmaker is giving an issue away to one of our readers.  Just leave a comment here in the comment section telling if you have purchased a 100 Block issue before.

  1. Other than online I’ve never seen the 100 Blocks magazine. It doesn’t seem to be available on our remote AK island. I would love to win one! Thanks for the chance.

  2. Love the 100 blocks issues! I’ve purchased some, and received other issues as gifts–love them all! Can’t wait to see the new one. Great block you have in it! Thanks for the chance to win a copy!

  3. I have never gotten a copy of these magazines. This year I hope will be different if I can find one to buy. Love reading your blog and hearing about your family.

  4. I’ve got all previous issues and would have this one if the book store had had it. I’m big into blocks, as I do my guild’s block of the month. I would have thought there were partial seams in the construction, but that seem in error according to the picture. Congrats.

  5. I love 100 Blocks. It’s a must have in my collection. So many of my favorite teachers, pattern makers, blog writers are in it! Inspiration is awesome!

  6. I love the 100 Block issues. They are always full of fun quilts and ideas. Love your block, girls. Congrats! Looking forward to seeing your full quilt version. Enjoy!!!

  7. No, I’ve never had an issue. Would love to win one! I enjoy reading your blog everyday and seeing the house progress!

  8. I have several of the issues, but not all. I find them very inspiring when I am looking for something new. I love how they are organized because I am not going down the applique or paper pieced path.

  9. I have several of the 100 block issues, not all of them. I’m hoping to win this one. Thanks for a great blog. I read it every day.

  10. This is so great that you have a daughter that you can share the making of your quilts. You can cheer each other on. Love reading about the house. Won’t be long before you are in it.

  11. I have just two of the previous magazines. I saw the new one in Barnes and Noble yesterday. I was tempted to buy it, but I was Christmas shopping for other people, and my budget wouldn’t stretch that far. Maybe I’ll win one!

  12. I’ve been collecting them since I started quilting two years ago, I will be picking up this issue as well…..unless I win a copy that is…great block. I really like how you show the design in a quilt layout.

  13. Ellen Groenenboom

I don’t have any issues yet, but will have to find this one! It would be a great Christmas present for my mom!

  14. I went looking for this issue yesterday…no luck. It’s awesome you are in four issues! Congrats! How’s the home coming along?

  15. No I’ve never had/seen an issue. The blocks on the cover look intimidating. I’m not sure I could ever make a quilt from them. But I’d like to see an issue so I’d know for sure.

  16. I have some of the other issues. I would love to add this one to it.
I wanted to say I have really enjoyed reading your blog. I like how it is your “real” life–you, hubby, kids and the pets. Thanks for being real.

  17. I’ve never gotten one of these issues, but have seen them in bookstores or grocery stores. Lots of inspiration in them!

  18. Great Block! I have a couple of the quiltmaker magazines and if I don’t win one I am definitley going to be buying this one as I have seen many great blocks so far that I want to make.

  19. I love your block and your setting. The orange triangles together look like a check mark. The 100 blocks issues are great. I’m a pieced block quilter so the applique are just fun to look at. Congratulations on your fourth block.

I don’t have any of the books–I guess I don’t get out much. I have to say that I like your setting best–it has a strong diagonal line to it, and a straight set is always quicker for me.

  21. Love your block! I think it would look good in patriotic colors. It would be so fun to win the magazine. Thanks for the opportunity and for all you do. Love your blog!

  22. It amazes me that you can design such pretty blocks using just your word program. I have never brought one of the 100 blocks magazines because quilt magazines are very hard to find in my area – I subscribe to the ones I really love so that I get them in the mail.

  23. I have 4 of their books and am still working my way through them. Maybe it is time for some new ideas to come forth. Would love to be a winner.
    Thanks for hosting this give-a-way.

  24. I have #8 and love it! Would so like to win the latest copy. Read your posts everyday and have learned a lot. Thank you so much.

  25. I only have one previous issue, so need another! I do find myself referring to it. Enjoy your blog. Wish I had as much energy as you.

  26. I have all 9 of the previous issues and a couple of the quilts from issues. I would love to add this one to my collection.

  27. I’ve gotten lots of inspiration from the blog hops that have been done with the issues, but I’ve never gotten a copy. Maybe this time :)

  28. I’ve not seen this publication before – maybe because I rarely buy magazines, so have not noticed it in the shops.

  29. yes, i have them all except the new one. i haven’t seen it yet but i will be picking it up as soon as i do. also so many fun blocks to make.

  30. I happened across the tour a couple of years ago. It sparked my interest in quilting. I have a couple of back issues and envy those with complete sets. Thanks for a chance to win this new collection. Love your blog. kathleendotlutzatcomcastdotnet

  32. I have every issue but this one and plan on picking it up tomorrow. Your block is beautiful! Thanks for a chance to win a copy of the magazine.

  33. I have several of the 100 Block magazines. Quiltmaker is one of my favorite magazines anyway, and I always look forward to the new 100 block issue. Congratulations on your block being included in this new one.

  34. Love your block. I like your layout a better than the on point one by Quiltmaker, I think your pinwheels show up better. I have never bought an issue of the 100 blocks, but would really like to have them all. Thanks for the chance to start my collection with this issue.

  35. Cindy Wienstroer

I haven’t bought an issue yet but it looks great – like that you made your quilt with halloween fabric. Congrats on being in this issue.

  36. Love your block. I have only purchased one other – volume 9. I really liked it, so I know that I will be getting volume 10. Thanks

  37. Rhonda Desgranges

  38. I have most of the 100 block mags and would love to add this one to my collection. I have a quilter friend in Switzerland that I ususaly include a copy in her Christmas gift. Thanks for such a cute block and for the chance to win.

  39. I haven’t ever purchased one of the 100 block issues. I love everything Quiltmaker does..and hope to start purchasing some soon. I am fairly new to quilting and don’t have a quilt shop close by. I would love to have one of the 100 block books though…
