Our daughter, Kelli, was home over the weekend. She brought with her Quilt Square Quilt Along blocks. Her blocks are different than mine and I thought I would show you what they look like. Here’s her first block featuring a modern look.
Kelli needed a wedding shower gift. The couple’s wedding colors are black, white and lime. Kelli made this and is turning it into a candle mat. She’s giving a white candle along with it as a gift. I just thought you might appreciate seeing one of the blocks with a modern look.
Kelli wanted a block for herself too so she made a Civil War print version featuring blues and neutrals.
I love them both. This is such a fun block.
In my mailbox I got a package from Country Threads. Inside was a 24 piece fat eighths bundle roll. It has beautiful Civil War prints all rolled together waiting for you to win.
Anyone who wants a chance to win needs to finish up your log cabin block. If you don’t have a blog and want to enter, send me a picture of your completed project by January 28th or link your blog post to my blog on January 30th. You can send your pictures to this email address, rogjok@iowatelecom.net.
If you want a bundle of fat eighths from Country Threads, they have a limited amount of the bundles for sale for $29.95. Just a heads up too…When ordering from Country Threads, your initial order may state a large shipping charge. Once the order is processed the shipping charge will be adjusted so that you only pay the actual shipping charge.
I continue to get emails from people who are joining us…it’s so fun to see lots of you joining in. Mary at Country Threads announced the Quilt Square Quilt Along in the Country Threads newsletter. If you are new and want some more info you can follow this link. The more the merrier…
Sweet! Love both those quilt squares! I ordered my pattern but I am still waiting on it. I hope to catch up cause I would LOVE to win that fat 1/8 pack! Thanks for hosting this!
I just have a little more hand qulting on mine, then the binding. I will send a picture when it is completely finished. I really like the black and white….what a great idea to make a candle mat and add a candle….wonderful gift. I may use that idea with the 2nd one I made.
I just finished piecing my block yesterday. I’m trying to decide what to use for binding and what color thread for quilting. Hopefully, I will finish it in time for the end of the month. I love the black and white. It is always fun to see what everyone comes up with for ideas with a project like this. Thanks again for hosting this, it was a wonderful idea!

Oh, I love both of those examples…gives me a few ideas. My patterns should arrive tomorrow! Hope I can join in most months!
Just received my patterns yesterday. Can’t wait to start!
The block went together well thanks to your advice to measure each step of the way. I have not quilted a log cabin block before. I’m wondering what pattern of quilting to use? Suggestions? Sorry for not using Facebook, but it has been weird of late… Tons o spamming reply all happening, so I’m stayin’ clear for a while. O btw LOVE the blocks you’ve shown us. Thanks! B
