Happy New Year!!
Well, Quilt Alonger’s it’s the last parade of the year. I finished up my blocks. Here is the star block and I can’t find my other one. It got “put somewhere where I would remember it was” when I was house cleaning and believe it or not, I have not clue where it is…can you imagine that??
So many have asked if we are doing something in 2013. The answer is yes. We’ll be making this quilt for the Quilt Along. It’s “Pieceful Nights” by Lori Smith, the same designer of the Quilt Square patterns we have been working with this year.
We’ll be making one or two blocks a month working so that we can finish the blocks by the end the year. My daughter Kelli will be doing most of the work with organizing this for the blog. The quilt finishes at 63 1/2″ x 63 1/2″. If you love the “Quilt Square” idea, you can make the blocks and finish them each month like we did with this year’s squares. To get a start, you can get your pattern from Country Threads by following this link to their site. (Keep in mind that your shipping will be adjusted to actual shipping once the order is placed.) For January, make the quilt block in the upper left hand corner.
While Kelli is working on and hosting that project, I will be working on this project and I invited you all to “wool along” with me. This too is a Lori Smith pattern, “Fit to Frame Pattern #6”.
It is done here in cottons, but my plan is to do it in woolens. I saw it done in wools and it was a beauty. Whoever wants to “Wool Along” with me can…or if you’re brave enough to applique in cottons, you’re welcome to do that too. We’ll be doing one block a month which should be manageable. Country Threads also has this pattern available. You can find it here. Start by making the block in the lower left hand corner. Keep watching the blog and we’ll keep you posted on when your block needs to be finished. Right now, we think we’ll be checking in every other month with both of projects.
Feel free to join one or both of the projects.
Now for your December Quilt Along Parade:
Here’s Jan’s block….aren’t the colors great?
Here is Barb K’s blue block. I can’t wait to see how all the blocks look once they are together in the quilt Barb has planned.
Next up is Deb’s block. As always, Deb is showing off some amazing quilting.
Melody has a cute block made with French General fabrics.
Laura Prettyman made a great block in fall colors.
Here is Judy’s block. I love the pinks and browns together.
Nancy sent in this block with blues and browns. I love that color combo.
The “get together and sew” gals were at it again and sent in their blocks. Here is Sarah’s block…
Nancy in PA sent in her blocks…yep, she did both blocks.
She also sent a picture with all of her blocks! That’s a great accomplishment!
I’ll be back later today with the prize list. We have some good ones….
Isn’t that quilt a Lori Smith pattern, not Country Threads?
Yes it’s a Lori Smith pattern. You can purchase from Lori, or where ever you want. Country Threads is just so good with supplying us giveaway goodies that I thought you might like as an option too.
They all look great! I’ll hang my head – I didn’t get mine done. ;(
Did Barb K mean to have her one border of triangles upside down? I would rather find out before I quilt something…but just wanted to check…maybe she had a reason to do it that way.
I have truly enjoyed this Quilt Along. Thanks so much for hosting it Jo! I look forward to 2013 and having your daughter join in on the fun too! Happy New Year!
Oh Jo — I was JUST telling myself not to take on yet another BoM when I saw these from a quilt I have long wanted to make… sig(h)n me up! Happy New Year! Thanks for all you do to brighten all our lives! Annie
You will LOVE Pieceful Nights! I did it as a BOM awhile back and finally quilted it not too long ago. It is one of my very favorite quilts. Of course, I pretty much love anything Lori Smith does!
Happy New Year!
I just ordered the applique BOM from Country Threads and can’t wait for it to arrive. Sure does look like they will be very little pieces but I like a good challenge and I really like to applique. Thank you for a fun 2012 monthy project and another one for 2013.
Happy New Year to you and your family, Nancy
Hi Jo,
I sent you my picture with my ipad but I guess it did not go through. I was a little worried about that. I’ve added a link to my blog post instead.
Happy New Year!!!

ooh….I remember seeing the Fit to Frame #6 piece in person at Lori Smith’s booth in Houston a while back….I bought the pattern from her then (such a nice lady!) and (ummmm) haven’t had a chance to make it yet, so this is perfect timing! This seems to be a BOM year for me… I’ll be doing that one with y’all, and the modern pieced BOM over at GenX Quilters, the Woodlands Sampler cross stitch sampler BOM from Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery, and a 6 week mystery knit a long at Jimmy Beans Wool. (How’s that for enabling? :-) )

Jo — I haven’t joined you in a quilt along before. When do we send you photos of our completed block – we ARE supposed to do that, right? Thanks! Annie
