I had planned on telling you about this quilt last week, but I couldn’t get my computer to go online when I was at the hotel. So the quilt waited for this week.
Here it is all finished. The colors didn’t photograph the best…it’s much prettier in person.
Five years ago, after my daughter Kelli’s twins, Eli and Emmett, were born, I went to her house and helped with some cleaning. She knew her hands would be busy, so while we were cleaning, she gave me a bucket of 2 1/2″ strips. She knew sewing was not going to happen for a while. I have pulled pieces here and there from the mix, but I dove in when I made this quilt.
I don’t buy a lot of green, so if you see green scraps, they were likely Kelli’s.
I believe this border fabric came from Ila from a couple of years ago…the binding too. I used it all up!! (I somehow feel like we should get a bonus when we use the complete yardage up)
Here is the backing…also from Ila. I’m sure she has my address memorized by now. She sends me so many goodies. THANKS ILA!!
I had a few extra blocks. I put them in the backing. It was perfect for that, as I need exactly that much more width.
I’m so happy to have this one done. It was a UFO. I can check it off the list now. WHEW.
I used a simple stipple for the quilting. I couldn’t decide, and I feel like a stipple is never wrong. At the time, Baptist Fans didn’t cross my mind. Seeing it now…I’m thinking Baptist Fans. Either way…I like the quilt just fine.

You were my inspiration! I saw your first post about Train Tracks & loved it. I got the book from the library & started Train Tracks several weeks ago. Have my strips all sewn together; next step is to iron all the seams before I cut them up. Yours is just beautiful!
So beautiful! I also got the book so I can make one of these. This will be a good way to use scraps. I was trying to figure out if you quilted the colors with same thread as the background, did you? I sometimes get confused whether to do same light thread on dark fabric. I often do them separately.
I had trouble deciding. I ended up going with a tan.

I love this quilt, it’s just beautiful. I would love the book but I’m on a quilt book and fabric ban. The rich colors of the fabrics are perfect and I love the stipple.
I think perhaps when you were at the hotel, you needed their WiFi code to get online. If you ask them for it the next time you are there, you should be okay.
I tried…nothing worked and I was content.

Wow, great looking project, Jo! Scrap quilts are such fun. Susan Ache has some good designs, too. I don’t need another idea book, but….this one is tempting.
Just have to say—-I love your Train Tracks!!!! I wish more of my “scrap collection” I could say was right size –but am sure that isn’t the case.
