Quilt Finish: Community Quilt

If you read Monday’s blog post, you know that a sweet blog reader sent me a quilt top that only needed to be bound.

I’ve been on a roll, trying to finish as many things as I can. This quilt went straight to the sewing room, and I bound it on Monday afternoon.

Here it is all finished.

Let me take you in for a closer look.

Even closer now. You can see the circular quilting motif. I really like it with circles…If I’d ever use a panto, this is a design I would definitely want.

I’m guessing this was made using a tube ruler… but maybe not. The color selection for this was top ten. I especially like seeing something like this, as it’s a great reminder that pink and orange can look great together.

My flowers look good with it.

I’ll be putting this quilt in my donation closet. I always get asked for donations for benefits and fundraisers in the area.

In fact, there is a benefit coming up in late August. It’s for a farmer who lives a few miles out of town. He ended up with Neuroendocrine Carcinoma (cancer) and is now paralyzed from the waist down.

They are a great family with three grown kids. Kalissa graduated with their oldest. I’ve been on the church council with Dann. He is a very giving guy.

If anyone has anything they would like to donate, please send it my way, and I’ll make sure it gets to the benefit coordinators.

Thanks so much for the quilt, Rebecca. I appreciate you trusting me with it.

  1. Jo, if there is a way to donate cash directly to help this family, can you please send a link? My niece also suffered from this terrible form of cancer and I’d like to help. Thanks.

  2. Beautiful pictures of your gardens and the quilt. I love that Rosie is so well trained …”I see it. I have to sit on it!” :-)

  3. Barb from upstate NY

A beautiful quilt and so quickly bound by Jo. It hopefully will raise a lot of needed funds for this family. Thanks to all for their generosity , especially in today’s complicated world.

  4. The quilt finish is beautiful!! That type of cancer sounds awful as all the many other types of cancer are too. Hopefully this quilt, or whatever quilt you donate, will be well received along with the other donations for such a worthy cause.

  5. It looks like you are sewing the binding down with the machine. Do you have a video of that? I’d love to see how you do it. Hugs,
