As most of you know, I’ve been busy working on the quilt Midnight Flight. It’s from this book, More Adventures with Leaders and Enders by Bonnie Hunter. You can find the book HERE.

The book was sitting by my sewing machine as I was piecing the border. I flipped the book open, wondering how many of the quilts in it I have made.

Hmm. I’ve made a lot. In fact, I’ve made all but two…this one…

…and this one…

I have one Bonnie Hunter book, String Fling, from which I made every quilt from the book. You can read that blog post HERE. Since that blog post, I have gone on and made a second Pfefernuse quilt you can read about HERE, and I made a variation of Wild Child you can read about HERE. I really got my use out of that book!!
I thought I would reminisce and look back at the quilts I made from More Adventures with Leaders and Enders.
Scrap Crystals…You can read about it HERE. I think I gifted this, but I can’t remember who to. Hmm.

The pictures don’t do it justice at all. It’s actually very beautiful. You can see the wonderful colors in the photo below. It was done in batiks.

Four-Patch X…You can read about it HERE.

The yellow is more like the yellow you see in the photo above.

That was a fun quilt to make.
Winston Ways…You can read about it HERE.

I just loved the color combo on this one. I regularly use this in one of the spare bedrooms. Again, the color in the photo isn’t the best.
Texas Tumbleweeds…You can read about it HERE. This was another adventure with batiks. I really loved this one. I used a sunflower batik for the border. The couple I made this for are big outdoor people.

Here’s a close-up.

This quilt went together quicker than most Bonnie Hunter quilts do.
Spoolin’ Around…You can read about it HERE.

I just loved this quilt. It was so fun to make. Quilts like this are almost the archive of scraps a quilter had at the time they made the quilt. So fun!
Easy Street. I made two of these. You can read about it HERE.

Here’s a close-up.

And you can read about it HERE. They are vastly different colorways. I gifted this one to family friends.

Cheddar Bowties…You can read about it HERE. I loved making this one too.

Here’s another view.

Kelli also made this quilt. She laid hers out differently. You can read about it HERE.

I love Kelli’s version.

Narragansett Blues…You can read about it HERE.

I really like this one.

Lazy Sunday…You can read about it HERE. I think I gifted this one to my brother Jay.

There you have it. Those are the quilts I’ve made from the book. WOW! It’s a lot!! So friends…should I ever tackle the last two quilts so I can say I’ve made all of the quilts in the book? It is tempting.

One Bonnie Hunter quilt is a lot to do. All of these are stunning!
What a wonderful array! Thanks for sharing your interpretations of Bonnie’s designs.
Your blog was a Morning Delight! Full of eye candy for sure! Great job on making Bonnie’s quilts your own. Confession…I have three of her books and never made one…a bit overwhelming for me but beautiful to look at. I’m a simple, repeat image type of quilter. But I admire all the quilters who take up Bonnie’s challenges! Bravo!
I think you should go for it!!! You’ve got the scraps for them and you certainly have the eye for color needed to make BH quilts. Can’t wait to see Rosie posing with Friendship Cross! Lol! Maybe Kelli will be up for the challenge to make at least one of them with you.
I say go for it! You certainly have the scraps and the eye for color. Can’t wait to see Rosie posing on Friendship Cross. Maybe Kelli could make one with you in another color way. Lol!
Sorry for the 2nd comment posting. I got a message saying the first couldn’t be posted. Oops!
WOW, what a bunch of beautiful quilts! I like making string blocks because I can listen it to audio books while sewing.
Jo…go for it!!! You “only” have 2 left to go. I know you are a “go big or go home” quilter, but you could make a smaller throw size. I just think it is remarkable that you have made so many of BH’s quilts. I have 6 of her books and they have all been signed by her. She came to a quilt guild near me and I just had to go hear her speak. I have made several (number pales in comparison to what you have made) and have a few in partial steps. I keep getting distracted by the next thing!!!! I also use her free patterns. Can’t wait to see what you decide to do.
Well ……. it is “only” two quilts, but I’ve made several of Bonnie’s quilts, too, and I know how making the same block many times can wear a person down. That’s why it’s made with leaders and enders …. one bite at a time, like eating an elephant! ;-) Go for it!
I like the Friendship Cross quilt, so, yes on that one. I’ve never been a fan of basket quilts. The basket one looks like it has appliqué handles. So I guess if you like appliqué, then go for it.
Both beautiful and impressive!! Thanks for sharing.
What a trunk show! All beautiful quilts. Yes, you certainly got your money’s worth from that book. Oh, if we were all so diligent!
I love this post! It is a Quilt Show and I did not have to go anywhere! Very inspirational for using up one’s stash by making incredible scrappy quilts. Bonnie Hunter is queen for designs, and I’d love to see you make the last two patterns in the book!
All your quilts are beautiful! I always look forward to seeing what you’ve been sewing–very inspirational! As others have said, it’s only two more quilts.
I love all the quilt pictures! You have made some very intricate patterns! Hugs,
