It’s Halloween..what a better time for Pumpkin Bread. Not so long ago Kalissa sent me a message that said, “Please make anything pumpkin flavored for me.”
It makes me laugh. She’s not a big time baker…what I really think people who proclaim to be “pumpkin lovers” really just like pumpkin spice. Nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger, cloves…it really isn’t pumpkin it self.
I caved and made her pumpkin bread.
oh…check out that butter melting in. YUM.
It’s a very easy recipe and turns out yummy every time.
I don’t use beer cans to put the batter in…I use this….Yep, regular old bread pans.
Here it is fresh from the oven.
It’s not fancy but over time, I’ve learned fancy doesn’t always equal delicious. This is delicious.
I’m off to hide a half of a loaf for Kalissa, my pumpkin spice girl, won’t have any.
Beer cans, huh? That’s an interesting thought. I used to bake banana bread in one pound coffee cans. If I still have those I could give this recipe a try in two of those. Maybe a weekend project.
That’s very similar to the one I’ve been making for 42 years! My MIL always made it with chocolate chips, so yum! And then I picked up the gauntlet and ran! And my daughter makes it for her sons now!
Try chocolate chips, Jo…sounds weird, but totally delish!
My recipe is similar, but also has 1/2 tsp. each cloves and ginger, and I add a cut of chopped dried apricots. I also cut the sugar to 1 1/4 cups.
Try it with raisins; I don’t even like raisins but have to have them in pumpkin bread.
Is that a stoneware pan on the left? I have a few pieces of stoneware and love them. My 9 x 13 is 25 years old and so dark and well seasoned. My pizza stone and bar pan aren’t as dark but I love them too!
I’ve been making this same recipe for 40 years also. You can search on Pinterest for “World’s Best Pumpkin Bread” and Pin it. I now use it for 36 muffins and bake about 30 min. Some go in the freezer. They are really good with chocolate chips and other additions. I try to pin my favorite recipes instead of digging out recipes.
Tis the season for pumpkin bread! Sounds yummy! Will try this is my Pampered Chef mini loaf pan. Have you made any pumpkin donuts? Made a batch a couple of weeks ago – YUMM-O!
