Last week, my husband and I went to Minnesota to visit his mom in the nursing home. Â It’s about an hour and fifteen minute drive. Â I am REALLY blessed with the ability to be able to work on projects in the car so I took along some quilting that needed to me be pinned including my Pineapple Blossoms quilt. Â You can find the free pattern for the quilt here.
I’ve had the rows sewn together for some time but was just not finding the time to pin the rows together. Â The car time was just what I needed. Â During the week it was easy to find the time to sew the the pinned rows. Â I got the triangle border pieces sewn together too. Â Hopefully this week I’ll find the time to add the narrow neutral border and the triangle border too.
During the car trip I also did a bunch of pinning for my Jamestown Landing quilt that I showed yesterday….I find that time in the car is really productive for me.
I was also busy sewing a few Civil War Crumb blocks.
I am so in love with this red star block….
Tomorrow starts the Crumb Along….I am still trying to decide if  it’s too ambitious for me to sew a Civil War Crumb version and a recycled shirt version.  As of right now, I am going to try both.
To see what others are working on, head on over to Patchwork Times.
Wow — I can’t imagine pinning in a car — I’m too prone to drop pins and would be finding them for weeks.
Pinning in the car would be an adventure for me as well. But it really works for you!
I would be so carsick! I am glad that you were able to utilize the time. I think your quilt is great…2 crumb quilts?? Awww, you can do it!!
Your Pineapple Blossom is stunning!
The pineappple quilt is beautiful and I really fell in love with the Jamestown landing quilt over the weekend! You do very nice work and you pick colors I would be using. The red star really pops- I am starting to use red, still son’t use alot. You must be close to me if you got to the cities so quickly, I am in Grantsurg, Wi.
What a good idea to use car rides for pinning! Looking forward to the crumb along!
Great use of time. But I would just end up poking myself. Your quilt it looking great. And yes that red star is terrific.
Love the pineapple quilt! I would love to be able to do that, but I end up doing most of the driving.
I, too, am impressed with what you can do in the car. Since I am the primary driver, my choice, I don’t think it would work for me. ;-)
Love your Pineapple Blossom–such a great pattern. We never go very far from home so I don’t know if I could pin in a car!
Impressive. The pineapple is gorgeous. Basically what you need then is a lot of car trips ? LOL – have fun!

I can knit in the car but I couln’t pin or sew.
I too find myself saving project to work on in the car. I finished the binding on 6 quilts during our last trip to Georgia. The colors on your Pineapple Quilt are terrific. I’ve sewn at least 4 versions of the same quilt and love it more every time. Adorable crumb block. Can’t wait to get started.
Wow – that Pineapple Blossom IS a beauty! Good that you find little moments to help get to the next step – another trick to keep us going is always helpful. 8-))
