Peach Jam…Lots of peach jam…a winner too!

My daughter Kayla (from Kayla K’s Thrifty Ways) came home for a visit and I put her to work.  I welcome any visitors this time of year but I’ll warn anyone…if you come, you work.  There is just so much work to be done in the garden and  I’m not good at taking time off to just sip a pop and chat.

Yesterday was was Peach jam day….

Aren’t those little gingham topped jars the cutest?!?  They were a Wal-Mart clearance goodie last fall.  I just love them.
If you were ever wondering a case of peaches will make 55 half pints of peach jam.   Here’s the recipe we used.  We made some strawberry-rhubarb jam too.

Today is another company filled day.  My sister, niece and her kiddos are all coming for a visit…I am putting them to work too…Well not really.  We are going to be quilting a couple quilts for my great-nieces.  Check back tomorrow and I’ll show you what we were up to.

I want to thank all of you for the wonderful comments about my Moda Bake Shop quilt 1934 Nine Patch.

  1. I was just thinking about making peach jam yesterday! I won’t have anywhere near a case of them though…I have to buy mine at the produce stand or the grocery store. :( Looks yummy!!

  2. Just curious, do your helpers take some goodies home? Truthfully, if I went to see someone and they were busy like you have been with putting up garden produce, I would want to help. It would be more fun that just sitting there.

  3. We’ve put up pears and more pears, and today was a little bit of grape jelly (the raccoons found them so only a little). My mother cooks and today I got to “watch” as am in a back brace. We haven’t found a source for peaches, which is unusual .

  4. Was at one of our local grocery stores and found 1-1/2 flats of strawberries marked down to $3. and 15 baskets of blackberries for 13 cents each!! Not a moldy or bad one in the bunch!! Just finished canning 9 jars of blackberry jam and 15 pints of strawberry jam!!! Love this time of the year!!
